Yeah man seriously I made a pair of 15s for 99vic here on SMD, and he complained of a problem just like that, so I took the dome off, and wall socketed the subwoofer for 14 mins - yes no joke, 14 mins Ssacket and I watched the solder joint heat up red hot, explode some solder, re solder itself, melt through the epoxy. The subwoofer ended up soldering itself back together it seemed like, I just re epoxied the leads at the coil, re domed it, and used it for myself for a week or so with no issues what so ever If I can get Ssacket in here, I will have him post the video

Ive seen poorly soldered leads under the dust cap that cause that same thing usually aluminum voice coils are a lot harder to do a clean solder than copper so if you were clipping the sub to all hell, yeah you would read a higher impedance due to coil heating
