So basically, if you think you may have the loudest one, and you are trying to find out scores to be sure. NO, you do not have the loudest one.

They should have taken lessons from Richard Clark. Their abomination looks like it will fall apart very easily. Now RC had a real woofer http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/119270-worlds-largest-subwoofer-most-rms-watts/page__st__60 -
Once you disassemble, the existing soft parts will no longer be useable. Once dropped, you most likely ended up with a bent frame or shifted motor. This may not be fixable by yourself. P2s arent that expensive and its probably a more economical solution to just buy a new sub. If you want to try and fix it just for fun, take a knife and start cutting the surround and spiders and pull out the cone/coil assembly so you can assess the damage. Then go from there.

If it was the 2nd thread posted in 1 second, that would mean we are celebrating at the frequency of 2 hertz -
You CAN tune properly by just using your ear. IF you know what you are doing. A distortion detector and/or O-scope are good tools to make it easier and more exact, but they also require you to know at least a little about what you are doing.

How to remove the magnet/motor from a subwoofer
HHR Ed replied to Kidd_Bass's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
what sub? any pics? if its a cast basket, you have to cut out the cone and spider assembly to get to the screws. then unscrew and whack with mallet. -
Actually, air should not be coming out of the port. It should sit in the port and vibrate. The lower the port air velocity, usually means the higher the SPL. Take small pieces of paper or foam peanuts and sit them in the port as you play some bass. It should levitate.

Ive seen it happen on vented coils. If the coil slapped the backplate and buckled at the vents. Or it is possible that heat builds up to the point where it softens the aluminum former at it's weakest point.
