Nah, they run a school like Installer institute. there are a few courses at each school depending on the area you want to go into. Like apholstery, body work, electronics, fabrication, box design. Thing is, once you get a job, it'll be different. I have been installing for 13 years or so and rarely use what I learned in school, I only get to use those skills for my own projects. This wont be the case if you can get a job in a high end full service custom shop. But thats hard since they usually want multi years of experience with little pay.

The are many schools that teach installation and offer MECP certification. I went to Mobile Dynamics in Toronto. There is also the Installer Institute, RTTI which is Rockford Technical Training Institute. and Mobile Tech and a few others I cant think of right now

For the low lows, definitely ports back or up. You should tune the box about 5 hz below the peak of your car so that they work together. Port opening should be about 4-8" away from the hatch. So probably a tuning of 35hz or so would be good.

You need alot of space for a bandpass. Tuning can be difficult. alot of trial and error

OK I got ya. Like I said, it'll move alot of air. so the main pluses I see are 1. phenomenal to look at. 2. Awsome for demos (hair trick monster) 3. Excellent for IASCA Bass Boxing

you are touching on a good concept there. Ever hear the term, "port loading"? Thats basically what you are doing by firing the ports back. This is especially good in an SUV because of the low tuning frequency. tahoe is probably in the low to mid 40hz region for a peak. Forward firing ports are usually meant for mid 50hz to 80 hz tunings, so the tahoe wont support the design at all unless you want to burp at 60hz.

Its not really a new design, its called a tapped horn. It'll move some air but its really good for long distance. So it'll be up to 15 dB louder with the windows open, then all sealed up. Shouldnt have a problem with cancellation at all.

In a tahoe, and any SUV for that matter. You want ports firing to the rear for the highest SPL. What this does is better match the resistance of the air in the port to the resistance of the air in the cabin of the vehicle. Ports up works a little but not as good, and ports forward wouldnt work unless you can seal off the area behind the port with a wall so air cannot travel behind the port.

get louder subs, lol. jk nah, subs up, ports back would be the loudest type of box other than a wall. Common chamber with a big port.

I can vouch for the T3 TSS being more suited for your goal than the DD 9515 as I tested both head to head before I went with T3. The T3 has the same motor as the DD but a coil similar to the DD9900 series. Also, the suspension makes it very capable of having excellent transient response and low frequency extension. I am currently putting 2500w a piece to my T3s and am burping at 153.2 at 39-42hz and can play music over 150 db all day long.

any of the choices you have above will pound with 2000w. Even the Solo X and soundstream, just because they are rated to handle 5000 and 8500 doesnt mean that they will not pound with 2000w. The juggs are good too but they were initially used as burp subs. You may want something with softer suspension and a beefy coil to play music with 2000w. I personally like using the T3 TSS for this purpose. But the Fi BTL is another good choice. RE MTs have been used alot and sounded nice but I think they are not as efficient as the BTL and TSS.

Crunch 3000D is a strong amp and can do 4600w on 16v at 1 ohm. and about the same power at .5 ohm It will run .5 ohm all day as long as voltage doesnt drop below 12v. The amps are hard to come by right now but the new models may be out soon.

No, I didnt build it. Matt, the dB Drag judge from MD did. but I got him an old RazorLite panel I had and he is going to put it to good use on that box.
