  1. cool, was thinkin i may resin just the kerfs but youll be here when im buildin, so we can figure it out then
  2. ^^^^ sry man, thats the name of THE GAME. On topic: Going with the last design. Anyone have suggestions on what to use for caulk as far as brand/type (obviously silicone, dont work for a glass company anymore so i cang just gank a tube from work) and ive seen alot of people saying they use titebond 2. Is this something i can just grab at menards or do i gotta go somewhere else for it, and how much more expensive is it? Also, i assume i should resin the kerfs yes? Ive been told just glue or glue with some sawdust will work also, what do you guys say to that?
  3. How do these look, just shy of 5 cubes after displacement, tuned to 32 Hz, 2x kerfed port. added a brace for the top piece too.
  4. I dont think so, i think tomorrow is going to be just buildin it. It may be naked for a lil bit till i can afford to finish it nice, how much would your painter buddy want to paint a box for me?
  5. I know, and i like the way my tuning sounds now, i dont want to lose my lows much. Its going into a 2000 blazer. I may try 32 but i dont wanna go much higher. I will try and do one for 5 cubes at 32, you still free tomorrow?
  6. Nope this is all me, he may help build it but the design is me at the moment.
  7. So this wed Im going to be building a new box since i have the day off and have some money finally. Decaf may come by and give me a hand then go play some disc golf. My current box is 5 cubic feet tuned to 30 Hz. The port is tiny. The subs are Clarion PXW 1251s. Im giving them probably around 400 each (kenwood amp doesnt do rated im willing to bet on that) But i may be getting a better amp (old rockford possibly) for them. I like the way my current setup sounds on rap and thats about it, some rock it really lacks but that could be due to having my HP set at 70Hz otherwise it clips the signal (even on a 50Hz tone). My port on my current box is very small. Im thinking of doing the same box or something like 4.5 cubes at 33Hz. Current design i wanna do is 5 cubes, 30 Hz, 17.4 in/cube, is that too much port? Heres a pic Other thing ive been wanting to try is a T-line for them. It will fit, if drawn it out. Fs of the subs is 30 Hz, i could take the time to do one for that (not building till wed) or i could use this one i did at 35Hz. What do you guys think.
  8. more port area means longer port. Longer port means more displacement. Which means you need a bigger box to make it all work.
  9. i was about to say try sub and port forward or sub forward port up
  10. Truf there is more to it than just the Fs. All Fs is is the free air resonate frequency of the driver.
  11. best way to learn is to try and find out on ur own
  12. A teacher of mine had over 2k on stock alt in a monte. He had a few kinetiks in back though, dont recall the size, but he said he never had any problems. Now i dont know if his alt did or didnt shit itself early in its life, but i can say his lights werent dimming even at idle. Very least, get some bats, when the alt dies, go to a H.O. Alt. And dude, like stated somewhere above, you cant run a 16v batt on a stock alt, wont charge.
  13. why not have the top of the box be 2 pieces that are angled up and met in the middle, giving you room to mount each of your subs. shaped like this "^" with a sub on each side.
  14. I was gunna say, my clarion 12s are in a bigger box, ive got them in 2.5 each. Yes my box is a bitbig, but thats how i wanted it, 5 cubes at 30 Hz. But anyway. I would say try a diff box before switching subs, you may have to go to 2 15s on lots-o-powa. HDC3's with aluminum coils will take that power all day, are affordable, and sound pretty good doin it.
  15. Itd be best to hook up 2 each in a push/pull arrangement, so one is drawing in fresh air and one is expelling the air hot air inside the amp rack.
  16. exactly what i was gunna suggest, sry the links didnt work.
  17. best of luck meng, honestly, may have to do a ported box with port plugs just because of that airspace issue alone.
  18. Go back to the RE calc and do each side of it individually, well, just do one side, and thats what it is for the other too.
  19. im pretty sure alpine made something kinda like those, im lookin it up now. here are 2 of them from alpine, theyre discontinued but maybe you can find one somewhere on the internet. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-zEkk3ZbWXlN/p...fer-System.html and http://www.crutchfield.com/S-K09K8lmu0NW/p...fer-System.html
  20. thjs ...and this why not motorize the port plugs if youre so set on motorizing something.
  21. Ill take the one on the left, shipped to 6017x, lolz jk.
  22. I was gunna say nothin smaller than a .40. Go with a .40 or .45 or a .44 mag (fun guns but not as practical as a .40 or a .45acp/gap) But you cant go wrong with a 12ga if its for your house.
  23. edit: Sry for the double post guys. Dont know what happened there
