I don't know if they changed the setup between escorts but on my 96 LX I had to solder in a new connector. The connector it self sometimes overloads and burns up the connection. Location on mine was under the passenger side dash. Really easy to access. People like to kick their feet up into that part of the dash too.

IF you bought the amp brand new there shouldn't be a issue. It seems like your voltage is low if you say if don't turn the knob all the way. It causes it to kick into protect. That's just my guess. I do see you have all the trimmings on your electrical but a bad ground or something to the amp can cause issues.

Lol. I was just saying running 2 different wire sizes can cause some issues. And yes 4 gauge is perfect for your power.

I don't think anyone caught that he had 4 gauge runs with 0 gauge ground wire..

Buy a simple supporting member ship.

Oh and after you get proper 4 gauge wiring. Not some from walmart or similar. Get some knukonceptz and then properly set your gains.

I don't mean to thread jack but should this be common practice on any setup where you upgrade the wiring? Or just follow the "big 3" like people have?

No wonder you have HUGE voltage drop. Get rid of the bass boost knob and never use it unless you know what your doing with it. Properly gain your system with a oscope or something similar.

KNU wire is "real" wire. Just get a bit more and use it.

You have some ground wire issues.

Try charging it with a proper charger.
