This is what mine looked like. But like I said. I don't know if they changed the design in 97. -

I don't know if they changed the setup between escorts but on my 96 LX I had to solder in a new connector. The connector it self sometimes overloads and burns up the connection. Location on mine was under the passenger side dash. Really easy to access. People like to kick their feet up into that part of the dash too. -
IF you bought the amp brand new there shouldn't be a issue. It seems like your voltage is low if you say if don't turn the knob all the way. It causes it to kick into protect. That's just my guess. I do see you have all the trimmings on your electrical but a bad ground or something to the amp can cause issues.

Oh and after you get proper 4 gauge wiring. Not some from walmart or similar. Get some knukonceptz and then properly set your gains. -

I don't mean to thread jack but should this be common practice on any setup where you upgrade the wiring? Or just follow the "big 3" like people have? -
Can u have a too big of alternator?
Rebel4055 replied to Cody7751's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
No wonder you have HUGE voltage drop. Get rid of the bass boost knob and never use it unless you know what your doing with it. Properly gain your system with a oscope or something similar. -
Yeah the link in OP is wrong. Go on the deal area and look for the 125 feet.

I've seen 500 amp fuses LOL!

Rebel4055 replied to edgil1985's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
Every car I've been in that has power windows I can hold and click the button when the window is up and make the lights dim and flash. I don't know why but it's very interesting what could cause it. -
Never mind. I got some too.

Damn. Not enough in my paypal.

Do I need a HO alternator??
Rebel4055 replied to Sid420's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Don't go and get a powerbastard alt etc etc. Won't be the same as a DC or Mechman. -

Try charging it with a proper charger.
