Just set your gain low and bump as loud as you want. Just make sure your gain is low enough to where you can bump as hard as you want and the voltage won't drop.

I see you have a hifonics amp. Recently I had the same problem. I have a hifonics amp and noticed that the bass wasnt as loud. I disconnected the bass knob and the bass was as loud as it was supposed to be. I guess it was due to a broken bass knob. With the knob connected and set at it's highest, it doesnt really go to as loud as it should be. I have yet to replace the knob. Maybe you are having this same problem.

If NOTHING turns on, it is not your alternator. I would first check for a loose battery connection. If all you needed was a jump start, your alternator could be going bad, because it might not be feeding the battery properly.
