yes use 0 gauge and have at least 2-3 big batts in the back. as for the alt, talk to rob from dc power and he will tell you what you need and he can take care of you. and for wire, you dont want to go cheap cause you get what you pay for. look into knukoncepts for wire. great wire at a great price.

i worked with my seats in. i just took off the trim panels and lifted the carpet. its a snug fit but it worked. just make sure to keep the wire away from sharp edges/corners where shorts can happen and you should be good to go.

in my expedition i have 2 runs of 0/1 under my carpet and i have zero problems.

it may not be as loud as it was before because your amp was prob set wrong (too high). it may seem "not as loud", but you settings are right and your equip will last longer. its better for your equip to last for years on the right settings than your equip clipping, burning, shorting, etc. on the wrong settings...
