now that box is way too small and the tuning is fuckin high. -
i go by numbers over a piece of paper flapping. you can look at the number in my sig to see why i like more port area.

How does this box look? (IVX-15 on 300W)
skittlesRgood replied to LZTYBRN's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Thanks! Only reason I put that there was the spl gains thread. I know it won't give me that much but I figured I'd try to squeeze as much out of this as I can. And I did calculate the displacment of it, but looking at it now it looks a bit small. But do you think I should just get rid of it? And is there a reason that torres is consistently about .2 cuft. less than my own calculations of the net volume? you can leave it. just looks like more than .055 of displacement. maybe you made a mistake? did you account for the thickness of the port wall? maybe thats where you have your discrepancy. -
wish i was still in nebraska. i'd go listen to it lol.

one 6" aero is pretty small for even 3.5 cubes. i had two 6"s in mine.

port is too small. box is too small. get it over 3 cubes at least.

looks great man. wonderful first design. only thing i see wrong is that whammy on the bottom. i dont think that will do much for you but the actual problem i see is that it doesnt look like you calculated it into displacement. so that will raise your tuning from what you think it is, if you dont correct for it. -
i might have two kinetik 2400s and a 1800 ill sell

if $50 is your budget for one set of speakers, it wont make a big difference what you get. there are shit brands to stay away from, but you wont get anything spectacular for $50. if thats your budget and it's set, fine. im not here to knock you for that. but dont say you are looking for SQ and expect a cheap option. tell us your budget and people will find you some options.

spraying water is supposed to spead up curing. maybe a light spray inside the bag before and after applying the foam. might as well give it a shot. let us know what works.
-
i tried this once a few years ago. the foam never hardened inside the bag. give it a shot, just do a test bag first and make sure it cures.

Can't decide on a H/u Please help.

cool, thanks. i do a lot of soldering at work and rework motherboards. i think ill be able to find it. -
ya, post pics so we can help you build it better next time. 1x1 wood wont do much for bracing.

its not the decks fault the fuse blows. its users shorting out their RCAs. its like bitching at XSpower for your fuse blowing every time you touch the two wires together. How many guys have to ground their RCAs that run those decks? I've heard too many. I've never had a noise issue with my Kenwoods and I'll continue to run them because the build quality is still great. what does that mean other than a lot of people make stupid mistakes? ive always used pioneers and never have i blown a pico fuse. i have never tried fixing one before but if you are going to throw away the pioneer, i would like to take it and try to figure it out. if you dont mind. -

Ring terminal difference?
skittlesRgood replied to Sergeant_Skyrim's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Haha shit I didn't even know that about them. The terminals are the only thing I've bought from them. But I was planning on buying a stinger fuse holder. Perhaps I'll go a different route. ya man, look at darvex.com. you can see 3 different brands "making" the exact same product. http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/Bullz-Audio-Pro-Inline-ANL-Fuse-Holder-28p482.htm http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/Stinger-Inline-ANL-0-Gauge-Fuse-Holder-28p354.htm -

i dont have any experience with those models but i put a lot of stock into preout voltage. i am biased and wouldnt buy a JVC or kenwood, just because. but they have better specs than the alpine. try looking up online reviews? amazon usually has a lot. look at the negatives of each unit. -
Ring terminal difference?
skittlesRgood replied to Sergeant_Skyrim's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Didn't even notice that. However, I contacted stinger about this, and they said they used to be solid brass, but they changed to copper for "ease of crimping." So either darvex doesn't know about this or they haven't updated it yet. And like I said I grinded one down, and it looked like copper to me. I'm not an idiot lol. interesting... stinger is a company I dont personally trust. everything ive gotten from them has either been shit, or a rebadged item thats been marked up %200. I'll never forget the "stinger fans" i bought where the labels slowly fell off to show the real label underneath. but when it comes to ring terminals, I just buy a few of whatever the site has that im buying other product from. im sure i have several stinger terminals in use so im glad to hear they are supposed to be copper. -
