  1. ok first off the whole point is to enjoy your system. not piss people off by making them hear it outside the car. second, sound deadener is stoping a panel from transfering acoustical energy. if the panel doesnt vibrate then its reflecting sound waves and not absorbing them.
  2. there is. He got 21 posts http://www.stevemead...281-bakedboy08/ lol i guess the search feature failed me then. sorry about that.
  3. well there isnt a member by that name here so i guess we dont have to worry about him? sucks you got scammed man. hope something works out.
  4. whats the volume at on the HU? this sounds like an input problem. or perhaps the tone you used. where did you get it from?
  5. again, double check the wiring! mistakes happen all the time. and no, thats not a good way to set the gains at all. you can set it with a DMM. you dont need to spend a lot of money to tune an amp.
  6. double check your wiring on the subs. even if you know its correct, check them. how did you set your gain?
  7. lol well there is your problem. you bought from RE after they went to shit. and if you are not happy with a $150 sub, what makes you think going with a $50 will make you happier? lots of subs out there that are under 6" deep.
  8. fli audio? i have honestly never heard of that.
  9. dont worry about feeling like a noob. we all asked the same questions at one time in our lives. ill always remember the $50 "1000w" amp i bought when i first started. i didnt know any better. Ive heard these subs are pretty good for what they are http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-P124-12-Inch-Performance-Subwoofer/dp/B001TDZ2IC now you have to look at ohm loads. two 4ohm single coil subs can be wired to 2ohm or 8ohm. so if you get an amp rated at 1ohm. you wont get that amount of power from it. you get the 2ohm rating. so you either need to find 2ohm coils (they will wire to 1ohm), dual 4ohm coils (probably wont in your budget), or find an amp rated at 2ohm instead of 1ohm. a 2 channel might be good for that. kicker is known for 2ohm stable amps. tell us your budget for subs and amp now. ill see if i can find something i think is decent if/when i have time. maybe others will do it as well. but building your own box will be the key part of your learning experience. you really should start as early as possible.
  10. wrong man do the math lol 2x18= 36 4x12=48
  11. but how often is that a problem? the high powered 160db cars my team has used never tore a cone. my setup never did either. hell yes there is a need for a dust cap. taking out a dust cap would be like drilling a hole in the side of your box.
  12. yes it does. when you talk about AC power, resistance is called impedance. they are basically the same thing. so more resistance in the wire means a higher impedance. im·ped·ance noun /imˈpēdns/  impedances, plural The effective resistance of an electric circuit or component to alternating current, arising from the combined effects of ohmic resistance and reactance
  13. ive never trusted the ratings on a hifonics amp. they used to say one thing on the website, another rating on the box, and if you call to ask they tell you a different rating. but it would be the best option closest to his budget.
  14. i dont play my boxes below tuning but i would imagine a smaller box could play below tuning better. the reason being, a small box has more air pressure when playing. that pressure is a part of the speaker's suspention. more stiffer suspention means more cone control. thats why a larger box is more efficient, softer suspentions so the cone moves easier.
  15. not a beast at all. 40 amps of fusing on the amps means it cant do more than 400w, at best. never, never, never, never go by MAX ratings. always go by RMS. you will not find a true 1000w amp in your price range. maybe at $200, used. is your power supply 1000w?
  16. the rms of the sub wont matter if you cant afford an amp that can supply the power. if you want two 400w rms subs, you need an 800w rms amp.
  17. with that budget... it probably doesnt really matter what you get.
  18. http://www.cirris.co...tance/wire.html that is a resistance chart. impedance is the resistance of AC current. so a smaller wire, with more resistance, with ac power going through it, will have a higher resistance to the flow of current (impedance)
  19. where are you in nor cal? loud shouldnt be on. sub should be set to 0 unless its an alpine HU. no reason for the sub to be in reverse.
  20. $4.50 per foot x 50 feet = $225 you charge more for buying in bulk?
  21. look at parts express.com and get something good. look at dayton and tang band. those are two brands i like a lot. and they are not PA speakers.
