if a stripped + wire was draining your battery it would be touching metal. if it was touching metal you would have a ton more problems... like a fire. if you have an inline fuse, check it. the only reason i see for that wire to cause such a drop would be if 50% of the wire was missing at the point of damage. go over all of you connections and see if any of them are loose, at the bolt or the ring terminal holding the wire. and HIDE THAT WIRE!! make sure that wire cant be damaged the same way again. tuck it behind something and ziptie it in place. that could have burned your car down!

oh i forgot. might want to test with different filters and boosts too. make sure if you set the "lows" up to +2 it wont make it clip either. incase you want to play with those settings later you will already know its safe.

only you can tell that. some hu's will have static the more you turn it up and some wont. just press pause and turn the volume up, see what happens.

im in the process of redoing my door pods and noticed that my midbass moved my mirror a little. thought that was kind of cool. this was just a little under full tilt. and these were from the 1st teambassick.com show. should be plenty more to come, keep an eye out for these great shows! you know what this is 20hz

ya thats why i added 100hz. incase the hu was crossing over any lows. let me know what happens. if the hu isnt clipping then its all good. only reason i wouldnt do it is if a song comes along that was recorded at a lower volume then you cant turn it up any more. tuning with the volume a little lower could give you room to play around but thats all up to you.

check it again at 50hz and 100hz. i havnt tested a hu but i have found that an unclipped signal at 1khz doesnt mean an unclipped signal at a lower frequency, when i scoped an amp. i have a video on here of that if you want to see what im talking about.

of course the stock hu has a remote turn on. thats how it knows when to turn on. why the fuck didnt they do it right the 1st time when anyone would have come back after there battery died. if some one did something that stupid to my car, i would sit in the back seat while they work on my car and make them explain everything they are doing. sorry, stupid shops piss me off. the pop could be a bad ground. could be feedback from the ignition. not really sure, ive heard explanations before, i just forgot exactly what they said lol.

ya the amp should not be on all the time. until you get it fixed you should unplug the remote wire on the amp when you leave your car. this way you wont damage your battery any more by draining it(your battery looses life every time it is drained). a pain in the ass i know but itll save you time and money on a new battery. sadly, half the time these "pros" dont know shit. or they just dont care so they mess up. learn how to do it yourself and save yourself a lot of money next time.

that is exactly what i plan on doing once i master this imp rise crap. its a real pain in the ass but the benefits are worth it. instead of having to buy a bigger amp you might just be able to throw a few bricks in the box and gain a DB.

and the shop isnt fixing all this? ram that car down that fuckers throat. he damn well better replace that amp too. the PDX amps are great and expensive, id be pissed if some one fucked up mine. the ohm load shouldnt have effected the lights in the car... what it sounds like happened was something happened to send so much power through the amp that the lights were starved for power. most commonly caused by a short. however i do have to ask again, when the amps blew was he playing it loud? the last possibility i can think of is that the voltage could have dropped so much that it fried the amp. small gauge power and ground along with stock electrical, maybe the sub is wired to 1.5ohm. all that could make voltage drop possible but only if he was bumpin.

list all the details of the setup. amps, subs, how they are wired, all wire sizes, how and where the wires are ran, type of connections, anything else you can think of. did the 1st amp blow as soon as the wires were hooked up or when they were powered on or as soon as music started or as soon as he turned it up?

this would have been very easy for you to have tested. put the volume half way up and burp it then do full tilt and see the difference in rise. its basically the same thing. i very much disagree with everyone who says imp rise isnt important to daily systems. measuring imp rise and understanding it has gained me 5db and if i can continue to lower it i might get to 150db on music. this is all with the same box, same amps, same subs. so ya dude, measure it, play with it, understand it. see how much power you can squeeze out of your amps.

just when he hooked it up? didnt play it? i would say he has the + and - backwards.

drill a hole in the copper, put a bolt through it into the battery. same way you connect a wire.

find what your cars resonate frequency is and tune to that. thats the "easiest" way to get loud. another way is to just throw a 12k at the subs. they will get plenty loud then

rite now i have 2 1/0 inputs, 2 1/0 outs and 1 1/0 for an amp. you just put the wires in a circle. it gets messy and hard to deal with though so most people use bus bars. you just find a good sized piece of copper, drill and tap some holes in it and attach your wire and battery to it. you can mount it straight to the battery post or somewhere near by.
