  1. I have two 12" Type R's and I've blown two of them. They're very clean and also loud enough to get you started... Just make sure you don't mess up your gains, run bass boost, or have ANY type of clipped signal going to them. As long as you keep it at 500w RMS and don't bump it for 4 hours straight, you should be fine. Great choice, they're really affordable.
  2. Uhh that happened to me. I had 2 DVCs 4ohm each. When wired to 2 ohms I got 0.7ohms. Anything below 1.5 is weird for 2ohms... In my case, one of the VC's measured to 1ohm instead of 4ohms... It also wasn't performing as well. I basically blew the sub

    Fixing Peeling Tint?

    BEAT HIS FUCKING ASS!!
  4. Dude isn't the purpose of Chrome to be extremely shiny? Why in the hell would you coat them black =(
  5. Well I just did that yesterday with some Microfiber cloths from Walmart and some Mother's Chrome Polish. As for the scratches and clear coat I'm curious as to what other people are using too =P
  6. It might be your headunit. I found that out last night when my Type-R's weren't bumping like they should EVEN THOUGH they were getting plenty of volts. Replaced my Kenwood KDC-MP332 with Alpine CDE-102 and I'm happy as hell!!!! My speakers are crisp, the subs are clean, louder, and deeper, and now I can use my USB flash drive. Sickk =)
  7. Omg I found out what the problem was all along.. It was my headunit! I tried to start my car today to find that the battery was dead. Once I jumped it I noticed the amps stayed on after turning the car off. Lo and behold I said, alright enough of this and got an Alpine CDE-102... It sounds probably twice and loud and the speakers sound even better. The best part is that the subs are playing WAYY louder and still getting the same voltage. Guess what, now my headlights and interior lights are brighter and no longer dimming and my car alarm chirps louder. Ridiculous! Well entertaining the idea of getting a 15" BTL now makes me want it! That will be my next upgrade =)
  8. Right but MRP-M1000s are 400 bucks and I get them for 200 bucks each with my discount! I just wanna note that I'm mentioning 4ga kits cause I get them very cheap and if I were to get a 1/0 gauge kit it would be like 6 times more. It's more affordable considering that.
  9. Selling my equipment and getting two 4ga kits with two MRP-M-1000s to power a single 15" Fi BTL sounds like a really, really kick ass idea. Can two MRP-M1000s (1000wRMS @ 2ohms each) power a 15" Fi BTL to its full potential (2000w)? That way if I need to upgrade I'll just build another box and get another two sets of alpine amps and another 15" Fi BTL! Otherwise I can always get two MRP-M1000s and two 15" Fi BTLs powering each at 1000w until I can scrap up enough money for the other two MRP-M1000s... Which would be louder?
  10. But I can get service plans for 4 years on one for 20 bucks. The amps are the good deals
  11. I'm using 1 8ga kit for each sub... In the mrp-m500 manual it actually states that it's okay.
  12. Yeah man I'm grabbin M-500s only because they're 117 bucks (each) with my employee discount. If it's a Best Buy secret, sue me. The Type-R's are 99 bucks (each) with employee discount and 8ga amp kits are 23 bucks. Two sets of dual twist RCAs is 28 bucks. I was thinking of maybe getting 2 15" Fi BTLs but IDK if it would be much louder and also way more expensive than going with 4 Type-R's. Plus I have Alpine everything (except the headunit)
  13. VERY SICK damn damn... Caddy wins but DAMN those DCs looked sick arranged like that
  14. True. I'll just lower my expectations. I'm only turning it up to 30.. MAX... it's like, if someone playin with my radio set it to 35 I didn't want it to mess up my equipment. Thanks for the tips so far! I got the 50hz test tone at: http://binkster.net/extras.shtml .. is it possible that this is different than the ROE ones cause I haven't used that one yet. I'm using http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204924953327 until I get my second pair of Type-R's and build an enclosure for all 4. Would getting another Pair of the M-500 and Type R's sound much louder? If so how many DBs would that get would ya say? I also wanna mention I have a 2001 Chrysler 300M so the trunk is HUGE and also far away from me.
  15. Yeah but I work at computer Geek Squad so no I'm not certified for car audio. I set it at 29.5 volts so that if I hit 35 on my volume control, it won't hit very far past 31.6 (which is 500w @ 2ohms).... Guys I'm new to this shit...
  16. Hi! You guys might have remembered my post the other day about my experience blowing two Type-R’s in the course of a month. 2 Alpine Type-R 12” (1242d) – 500wRMS/1500wPeak http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWR1242/Al...242d&tp=111 2 Alpine M-500 amps – 500wRMS/1200wPeak that isn’t listed anywhere but a few websites (it looks like it’s 500wRMS and 500wMax at first glance) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPM500/Al...-500&tp=115 Well, now I leave my headunit EQ at 0db and my bass boost on my amp at 0db as well. I use a multimeter to find the AC voltage, and I’m getting 29.5 AC volts at 80% volume (to not overdrive it). Each sub is wired for 2ohms. Now when I used to have the bass boost up, it sounded way, way louder. It kicked the back of my seat. It pounded my chest, it made everyone look whenever I got near them! And now it makes my water slightly shake. It tickles my back. It’s almost as if I don’t even have subs anymore. I’m wondering if this is normal, or if it could possibly be my headunit. I have a Kenwood MP-332 that doesn’t have subwoofer control. So when I turn it up to 30 (out of 35 max), the voltage on the amps are at 29.5. But does this mean that the volume of the subwoofers is lower on the headunit? If I got a headunit with subwoofer control, and I turned it to +15, wouldn’t my voltage go up too? **THREAD UPDATE** - 4-28 12:30a Omg I found out what the problem was all along.. It was my headunit! 17. Sell that shit fast and get you some Dynamat Extreme, Second Skin (this should be your #1 choice), or eDead. As long as it's butyl based my man. Dynamat Extreme for example can be used without a heat gun and is damn near impossible to get off once you use a roller.
  18. hell yeah he does! dude is the genius voice of a generation!
  19. Oh now I get it... sorry the sentence wasn't really worded well
  20. Increasing bass boost increases clipping... which increases power. Which also increases the heat production. Turn your Bass Boost on your headunit and amp to 0. I blew two Type-R's this way. Always measure your voltage too.
  21. I've used Dynamat Extreme in my trunk, in my computer, and inside a little ported sub enclosure I have for my computer. It did wonders in the trunk, I wish I could afford more of it. My computer no longer vibrates my feet, but the fans seem louder. And the sub enclosure now sounds much, much bigger and it's also louder and doesn't vibrate. However it sounds extremely hollow. Anyways.... lol
  22. For the big font problem: If you have XP, right click on your Desktop and click properties. Go to the appearance tab. There you can change the font size and more when you click the Advanced button. It's not usually viruses that do this but somewhere along the line it changed your theme. It looks like your Display Driver might have been reset. Update your graphics card drivers! I'm sure that this will fix the problem.
  23. This is absolutely horrible. Props for posting it
  24. You're probably pushing too much power to them and playing them for too long... They heat up from extended use. Just let them cool down, don't keep playing them. I drove around for 4-5 hours with max power and bass boost and that's what did it. Also make sure if you have the heat on it's not going directly to the back of the car. It's normal for them to smell - that's how you know when to stop. But don't ignore it like I did. I've already blown two subs. Note: I forgot to mention, one of the subs I blew was from playing at max volume (well, max gains/bass boost also) when it was around 20 degrees outside from a snowstorm, as soon as I started the car I played them. Next thing you know I'm hearing rattling. I'd say cold can do it too
  25. He told me I should run it with Max Gains because "that's what he did when he had 2 Type-R's"
