I have never heard someone ask that for any reason other than to cause some form of conflict. The answer really doesn't matter.

I'm pretty wound tight about that. I asked my now wife that question years ago. The number for me would have been a deal breaker. I say be honest, let them do what they want with the info. The fact is how they act is a good indicator of who they are and you too can make a decision about them and how they act as well. You say lose, lose..... I say win win
