Just to make it clear evey sub i have fixed this way is still going to this day. as a matter of fact i took orion hcca tinsel leads out from a blown cone and put them into a lvl 4/5 coil combo that was an older sub that only had one set that sub has been the same way for right aroubd a year now and shows no sign of a problem. YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY!!! But it can be done and last if your in a money/time pinch.

Like cj said its caused by clipping. turn the gain down a lil recone or fix it up which ever you want add an extra lead to whatever which way you go. problem SHOULD be solved.

My fix i posted will be a lot cheaper. you might have about 15-25 bucks in it if you know what ypur doing. if not send it back and have it reconed.

He should be good to go. might help his output with the little bit of power to have box a lil big.

Most of the time its from a quick hard clip as oppesed to a lower long term clipping issue that will kill the coil. look real close to the tinsel lead and it will look shightly dark and miscolored.

If you are handy you can order some tinsel lead from fix my speaker. remove dust cap with razor knife very carefully. find where the tinsel goes into cone and connects to the leads on the former clean out the ca glue with a dremal tool with a small sanding stone bit. solder the new tinsel to the connection at the former poke a new hole in the cone run tinsel through make sure you have enough slack for cone travel and solder to push connectors check to make sure it works. put glue back around the connections at the former and glue the dust cap back down. This will work i have done this a gew times with guys that dont understand what ckipping is and blow out tinsels. you can even add more if you would like. i did a lvl 5 from dual to quad a few moths back.

Once the frames are fully launched on all 3" coil motors we'll do 4" coils on the 10/12/15 ... but no reason to stay so small on coils for the 18 for a flag-ship model OHH boy Ill have a tahoe a box and 2-12k's more if needed ready for 4 of these beasts, yikes i can only wonder.

Been working on a build for a while, had an irraggi quad kit for it sent the alts to mechman and without ever using them they dynoed under 250 amps with all chinese internals which doesnt make for a very bullett proof alt. so we had mechman swap regulator and recitifer. after that they were redynoed and did over the 260 mark. They sent them back we slapped em in finally got the truck up qnd running. with 4 3100 &1 3400 charging @ 15.2 full tilt for almost an hr yesterday i never saw voltage below 13@idle and @1600 rpm never below 14 thats with a 12k @.5 bridged. thanks mechman nortons car stereo in charleston sc will never use a different alt company!

Absolutly not saying the pa bb2400 is on par with the aq or sa but at the price this guy was looking at it is a pretty good amp. just sharing my personal experience with them if you can afford the other options by all means do so.

Planet is owned by boss. but i have personally beat the dog shit out of these amps and the only problem they ever have is the mounting feet breaking off. shit i ran four at .25 four over an hr stright on crap voltage before they shut down never smoked one just protected.

The couple we have installed at the shop had 0 problems with .5 with a 20ah battery and 1/0. All have been daily setups.

Look for planet audio bb2400 right around that price range online, itll do just shy of rated but never give you a problem wire it to .5 and with a lil battery behind it itl do real good.

yup the IA we did recently was on a 14v battery set up and it worked great at 16.4 charging. then on the flip side of that we put the same amp on a set of hybrid audio in a tacoma and my sq guy actually liked the way it sounded.

Not 100% but i think they can do a 320amp. Iknow they can do a 320 on a 2011 so its likely, give them a call or email eric or matt they will get ya right.

Incrimanator audio has a nice d class four channel but your gonna pay for it.

I have done a couple and what seems to work real well as far as a nice tone with harshness and a low smooth idle, stock pipes chop the muffler do a flowmaster 40series (delta flow iirc) single in dual out and then add turn downs. And these have all been tahoe or suburbans. the shops and customers trucks.
