  1. i ran my DAT 2500.1 at .25 for a while, all it did was get a little hot, but made a shit ton of power, poor 12). For efficiency and warranty, look into running 2 DAT 1000.1 amps, they do roughly 1500-1700 at 1 ohm each. What coils are in the T1's?
  2. Easy slugger, yes technically it can be done. Its unstable and will become costly for repairs. Good luck with ur amps
  3. a few years ago, US Amps was working on a multiple amp strapping, i think they got 6 amps to strap together, however, it was extremely unstable. Also, it is illegal in DB Drag to strap that many amps together (i thinks). If you could afford to buy 4 amps, couldn't you just buy 2 bigger amps and strap those 2 together? instead of buying 4 2000D amps, buy 2 4000D amps. Keep things simple, less chance for failures.
  4. google search cactsus sounds, email christoff
  5. i want some spl numbers or i might have to confiscate those and redistribute to someone that posts scores!!! there should be some good DC reppin this weekend. I think mike is bringing the explorer, me, scott, you a few others i'm sure
  6. there not too bad, in all honesty, you should get more for the money you pay. there soft parts were good years ago(i have rebuilt so many of them :01nocomment8so:
  7. the more important issue is current draw. there is alot more current draw when amps are strapped. run them separately
  8. there is a big difference in using batts that were designed to be fast discharge. Kinetik Batteries are prolly the most used in car audio. I have run them for 4 years now and wouldnt use anything else (maybe powermaster, but xtra $$$). The optima is not a bad battery, but the kinetik is much better. depending on what vehicle you have, i would buy a kinetik that fits under your hood properly, and a 2400 for the trunk, run 0 gauge to connect them. Also look into a high output alternator, i have always used ohio generator, but there are many good brands out there.
  9. where are the pics?? getting impatient here. You'll have to pull that audioque vinyl off your back winder and replace it with a louder one
  10. i have ran DD subs since 1998, when the 9500 series didnt have a letter after it. Came in only single 2 ohm coil. I have worked with JD a bit on the TSNS woofer, actually built woofers with him at my booth at 2007 db drag finals. I am now currently running DC 4Xl woofers in my van. Customer service is DC, no comparison/ Quality DD and DC are about equal, engineering, DD wins that one I can say that from what ni have used, the level 4XL is louder than the 9500 or the TSS, in my set up. JD is revamping the TSS, so keep an eye out for it. you cant go wrong with any of these woofers, they art all top shelf. Price, customer service (before and after sale) and looks=DC Audio
  11. I am biased, and for good reason. I would run the 2500.1 amp. They do quite a bit more than 2500 watts too, and save you $$$$ over the sundown, which would help pay for the batteries.
  12. i would be more worried about a car fire, the equipment id much easier to replace than an entire car. Go to this kid when daddy isnt around and lay it out to him.
  13. Also look into the diablo audio 2500.1 amps www.diabloaudiotechnologies.com
  14. its not always about the woofer, if you dont have 2000-2500 to push on the 4XL it may not be worth it. Instead of getting 1 big motor woofer, i would suggest getting 4 level3 12's, or 2 of the level4 12's. Cone area does matter here, but even more important is the box design and quality, and the power going to the sub(s)
  15. its not really a secret anymore that there are many common components used in the amplifier manufacturing. It may use the same casing as a RD amp. Even if it has the same board, its the components on the board that make the difference. There are so many tweaks that can be done in the design, making it behave completely different than any other amp. DC is not the same as RE. I have quite a bit of experience with both brands. For starters the pole piece, gap geometry, top plate design are all different. If you say they are both triple stact magnets, well, i am sure glad you can count. Coils are a little different. Completely different cones. Similarities, baskets, same style spider, but with different treatments done to them. Biggest difference=CUSTOMER SERVICE. Even if Rusty copied everything he has from someone else, atleast he will take care of his customers.
  16. my walls are 5" thich, my loading wall is 6" thick and i have still have square steel tubing bracing. Adding bracing will add deebeez, (not that simple, but close enough)
  17. well since you want to run 2-15's look into the level 3 or level4 woofers from DC. Not only are they great woofers, but the customer service is top notch. If you really want to run Fi, look into the Q or maybe even some BL's. Even if its a little more woofer than you want now, yu can always add more power later
  18. well instead of just angling the one side, and all the corners. i normally use 4" pvc and cut it in quarters screw it into place, then use duraglass to smooth the edges
  19. there are few amps out there that the manufacturer will rate at .5ohm. However, there are tons of amps that will do it with ease, depending on how much you want to spend. American Bass, Diablo, Sundown, Incriminator, and there are others. You need to supply the amp with a good current supply, so with that power, i hope you have an extra battery or 2 or it will smoke. why not look for a good 2 ohm amp? it will run cleaner and more efficient and last longer
  20. unless you are doing some hardcore SPL (and looking at your tuning, your not) you wont notice the difference between those frequencies. I have seen weather changes effect frequencies more than that. i always 45 the woofer side of the enclosure, but like ^^^^said, add some bracing. How much does this woofer displace??
  21. Rusty better get his ass out to the east coast then and see some of his cars. SLACKER
  22. I have the level4XL 15's running a little over 4K to each and do really well with it, the level 5 is even better. I have played with both woofer, the level 5 will be louder and last longer (providing you dont do dumb things). In my opinion, the 4XL is comparable to the 9500, the level 5 is obviously better than that.
  23. well i am running about 4K to each (might be a little more running 16V) and they seem to like it just fine.
