imo 18's arent sloppy at all. lol your friend says they are...coming from someone with premade boxes? *laff* . i had an 18" solo x and hit a 147, so i think with a pair you should definitely be able to hit 145. but very doubtful you'll get the airspace required for them in a car like a talon. maybe a wall and lots of work, but suv/wagon would be the way to go

hahahahahaha that made me laugh. as for upgrading the wire by the battery...you COULD. when getting a new alternator it's suggest(or required) to do the 'big 3' upgrade. which means increasing the wire gauge going from your alternator to your battery, the ground from the engine to the chassis of the car, and the ground from the battery to the car body. so yeah you're definitely on the right track. it's not necessarily required now at the moment...but if you got enough wire, it definitely wont hurt. then if you do decide to do the big 3, that's one less wire you gotta worry about EDIT: i just underlined that section to show the part that you were referring to in your post. not tryin to confuse...

i believe if you have a small ground wire like your 8ga, then upgrading the power wire to 4ga will do you no good. you can only be as strong as your weakest link, and your weakest link would be your 8ga ground wire. mine is purple so color doesnt matter. but size does

i got a tv tuner card. gonna see how that goes. guy i work with said his bro and dad have em on their comps and are pretty good. i'll shell out more money for a better one if i have to, just atm i wanna finish other important pieces to get. so figured i'd just spend 25 on one now

i definitely go by bigger is better. when i have all the equipment i want, ima do a run of 0 ga to each amp. your old power wire was 8ga? my speaker wire is 8ga glad you upgraded tho

the comp i'm building now is gonna have a dual quad core, 8800GT (maybe GTX), 3 gigs of ram, surround sound card, tv tuner card, water cooling kit. might update the HDD. getting a new case too. keeping dvd burner/rom drive. altogether i think it's gonna come out around the 1k mark. not sure what'd all that cost retail. just an idea of what ima pay building it.

exactly what i was going to say. the ones i've been to, i filled out a form. how many subs/amps/batteries then they put you into a class. i had 1 18" at the time so they didnt put me in a class with a pure SPL vehicle walled off with 4 18's or more. if you go once, you'll learn a lot being there and how things work. check with some car shops around you. that's how i found out about my first show. it was just by chance too
