    my gain on my aq1200 is a little more than 3/4 of the way up. but i barely clip, if not any at all, at 3/4 volume on my HU

    Take the plugs out, put them back in, and see how the plug wires sit on the plugs. One of mine has a vaccum issue. It doesn't want to plug itself in. But just check it, then if it persists, replace both.

    Definately sounds like a spark plug issue. I have a 92 toyota celica and it does the same thing when my spark plug wire pops out of the heads.

    Pick a different amp than that prime. It's very low end. Not very good output.

    Sorry, haven't done much work on boxer motors, but I say x2 on the subaru forums. You might have better luck there.

    And you've replaced the spark plugs and wires? Checked the distributor cap?

    Is it not turning over? Can you hear the relay when you turn the key? Maybe a bad starter solenoid
