If you've been running a multichannel amp for months with no noise, what would be the cause of noise appearing suddenly? What piece inside the amp is broken? And there is no noise from the sub. This is all theoretical.

I don't plan on using it. Just curious if it could be safely used. Thanks for that explanation, Decaf, as always.

Not the remote bass knob, I tune with that all the way up, too. I'm talking about the bass boost dial on the amp.

Alright, re-tuned my sub amp with the -5db track today, and out of curiosity decided to check if bass boost causes distortion. So I set the gain first of course, then started turning the bass boost knob. Got about 1/4 turn before the distortion light came on. I never use bass boost, but does this mean I could use that little bit of boost safely?

Playing this thing pretty hard earlier today, but not full tilt, started smelling something. Doesn't smell like coil, its more like overheated brakes or clutch. The dust cap was still cold, so i'm thinking glue or something. It's fine, just don't want to burn it up already if it is coil. Note: Gains were set with dd-1 at -10dbs, clean signal.
