  1. Sizes? I have 8's, 10's, 12's, and 2-15's but the 15's one's dual 2ohm the other dual 4ohm. Hit me up. All BNIB or very close to it. All price ranges.
  2. Yes indeed lookin Good Steve. Man you make progress i can only dream of. Seems like things take forever ova here, and you're just burnin thru this one, nice job. I like the imbeded magnet idea, I might steal that one on a amp rack cover i have comin up, and I need me one of those handy corner clamps those look to be the sex. Keep them pix comin man you kno we're all dyin for the finished pics/vids. :w00t:
  3. Amen to that. Although I HAVE got some "cool" stuff as presents before, it's never "hey honey I got you some FI or RE subs and a RF 4000watt amp...is that ok?" *Side note*--->On the W7 comment, Most folks on this forum (myself INCLUDED) would cringe at the thought of spending "the going rate" of a W7 (new/used & on hookup or therwise) when BETTER stuff can be had. I think most folks here would agree W7's are nice ass woofers but really overrated/overpriced and if you really wanna build a good daily ground pounderor even a serious spl setup, W7's are not the first choice. That having been said, I HAVE personnally taken a 2nd place trophy to a single 12w7 in a mazda station wagon (versus my 4-CVR 12's), so to each his own I guess.
  4. Well I was GONNA say check out PornStar's build on ROE but their forum is still down. I read all 35+ pages of that aswome thread KNOWING I had a test in the morning and it was worth it. Do you know who I'm talkin bout he was Team MaxxSonics too. He only did an "unofficial" 160 on the new TL and a high 50's number. He started with 1-18" RE and then switched to 2 subs (same). Ask him, I think he rebuilt at least 10 times in an essentially wood/concrete filled mini truck with a bandbass design. Crazy....Crazy LOUD!
  5. Given the space/small cabin you're working with the Best option in my mind is the 8 CVX12'S. In my exp SMALLER subs in bigger numbers do well/better in small cab's AND sound good-BIG subs in smaller numbers do OK or well but don't sound nearly as good in such a confined space, so as far as a daily setup I'd say go the 12's route and invest in an epicenter or epic 160 and they will perform/sound like 15's (I have an epic 160 and it is worth every penny). If you have 15-20 cubes, I'd run the 12's w/ 2-2.5 cubes each ported, and give em around 600rms each. Also DEFINATELY do an electrical upgrade like a mofo cuz thats a lotta juice you're talkin bout w/ that. I'm sure you realize but I dint hear any elect. mods in ur post so I'll just thro it out there. I have run kicker subs and still say [glow=red,2,300]for the $$[/glow] they are hard (not impossible) to beat. (Comp15's, comp vr 12's old version and new, solo's and heard cvx's in a friends ride) and they are solid performers at 75-80% rms power as a daily while still putting up decent numbers. I'd hate to roast 8 woofers...ouche$$$. ~2cents.
  6. So does your PET rat live in there or is it an infestation problem? (Kidding-only kidding) Gotta tuck them cables yo. What 4-12's did you have and why not anymore? What vehicle is this in? I saw a trunk but didn't get too sherlock holmes on the pics. If you can get 1000rms (real watts) I'd say either a couple alpine type R 12's or 4-Kicker compVR 12's. ~2cents.
  7. Thank you sir. It was a fun, learning exp., and I learned some audio stuff as well as some "dealer relations" type stuff. 1st:$$ up front. 2nd: Don't let "friendship" overshadow the work and let someone take advantage of you. 3rd: If someone BRINGS THE PRODUCT to you, TEST it before you start building. None of this "you broke it/your fault it is defective" etc. I do "walk throughs" now on every car no matter how new it is/who the owner is. Cover your asses fellas :red_bandana:
  8. Thnx for the comments guys. It good to hear even my old/beginning setups get the approval
  9. Doesn't Steve kno quite a bit about air ridin? I mean the civic has had it before the theft and after (maybe check the rebuild thread on that for a general parts list). Maybe Hit up Mr. Meade directly if he's not too busy making Chickens House SLAM he could help ya on a shopping list? If I find anything on it I'll let ya kno too-All I can say is If any of the guys from the OLD Norcal customs wanna work on it- look into the stuff they've done already and ask the owner about thier reliability cuz I kno that shop went under a while back... and then there's a new/ or diff Norcal up on Auburn Blvd and I dont know if it's the same guys but I heard they have exp w/ air rides from a customer of mine. Purely hearsay tho. ~2cents
  10. NICE one. I was gonna say check the side bar, this makes a good point bout sooper doper hi-tech, computor backed, fly by wire drivin $80,000+ cars hehe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_NJktdNcxk But i'd have one Instantly if I had the $$$$ :w00t:
  11. NAH NAH NAH MAN! This is an old build I just got busy scannin in my pics for anybody who was interested after I got the "Nomination" for the system of the month from Steve, when the admins/mods get it up n runnin. This is maybe a few years ago I built the Bronco so I have a router now, and a bunch of round over bits. I 'm actually sure i HAD one back then and used it I think i was just "cleaning up" the edges so it's be all smooth before I started spraying it up. I filled in the srew holes and sanded them (not the corners per se) then it got rhino linered then fleckstone sprayed, then I clear coated that for protection. The whole build was a learning process since I was still kinda noob to big builds and just honing my skills w/ the tools. Pretty sure I had JUST bought a table saw at that point and thats my workhorse now. Only thing I still need sre some jasper cutout jigs for doin circles. Till then I rock a decent circle out w/ my jigsaw. Jigsaw FTW. Thnx fer checkin the pics, I'mma put MY car and the full builds on the 300zx and an RSX I did up once I finish scanning pics.
  12. Thnx Accord, I only wish I had got some shots of the setup "Lit up" cuz It looked pretty nice at night. It was the "demo run" of what I did on my box-ALL white interior, glow in the dark paint inside, and little plexi "windows" on the sides to allow the neons to light the box up. The center divider was plexi too like in my box with a 1.5" strip painted white around the egdes to cover the mounting screws in it. Only thing I did different on my box was put one more neon inside the box and I left out those logos. The owner loved "showin his setup" and he liked being able to drown out guys w/ little prefab boxes and smaller setups. He's not that into big bass setups but I convinced him his 10's were not cuttin it so we upgraded to some 12's and they sounded great in there.
  13. I tried to post on this thread earlier but it was hatin on me. I made a new one in the member build on the 1989 bonco II. I'm still scanning the build pics from MY car, and a couple others just cuz I have em. Hope you guys check em out.
  14. I'm with ya on that one. I try to make it a point to either "save up" my comments and combine em when possible or write a shitload of info for the sake of those takin the time to read...rather that just posting random BS to "get my posts up". Thats pretty immature/lame/queer to just post like a mofo so you dont have "noob" status or w/e the reason is. If you want respect just learn/know you'r shiz and folks will look past your "status" and see that you know your shiz. If you don't know that much now, ACCEPT it, or change it. This place is a HUGE resource of info and there are some very skilled and knowledgable folks in here that would respond to any Q in a timely manner i'm sure. No need to stay in the dark. "He who asks the Q..." ...that's all i'm sayin. ~2cents
  15. :W: Nice subs too BTW in case i failed to mention that. Hows those amps, i heard of folks havin issues w/ the orion class D's?
  16. Just a thought-I'm not sure about a plasma screen & all Cuz I'm still runnin cave man technology but.... How close those gonna be to the bigscreen? Unless you build in some kind of sheilding aint the GINORMOUS magnets on them 15's gonna screw w/ the screen? just curious.
  17. OK I got most/all pics from ONE install in my PB so I'm makin a new thread in member builds for it and the others seperately. I think/guessin too many from each setup... I think they'll bleed together. So here's the story: Cowerker has this bish (1989 Ford Bronco II 2dr) w/ some MTX 6000 series (I think) 10's and a lil mtx 2 chann pushin em. (see before pic) So Amidst my "audio adventures" and building this & that either he decided or he gave in to my naggin him about lettin me build him a better setup. He bought most/all the parts (subs, mids, wire, etc) through ME and he had his own deck already. He gave me NO $$ up front so i just had to buy the materials outta my pocket and "keep it under $500" and then he'd pay me back when it was done. Deck: Apine 7832 Front mids: Phoenix Gold 6 1/2" coax in front doors. Rear mids: Phoenix Gold 6 1/2" coax in Rear pass. area. Mid amp: Phoenix Gold QX300.4 4channel (60x4 rms) Sub amp: Soundstream Reference 500 Subs: 2-JL Audio 12W3D2's (version one) Box: 1.35cft /sub Sealed, Indiv. chambers w/ plexi front, sides, and "JL" logo inserts (see pics), all white interior w/ glow paint, lit by Blue neon on sides of box (srry no pics) And here we go-Startin on the box: Rhino liner sprayed to even out the finish Thinkin INSIDE the box... After I Rhino lined it I used that Grey Fleckstone like Steve put inside the box for his 2-RE18's (this was BEFORE I ever met steve or saw his box so no hatin allowed) You can see the cardboard "stop signs" taped in place over the front plexi to keep over spray off. This was to level out the floor and make it more "uniform", also give me a color matched floorboard after I vinyled it. I used plumbers tape to secure it using the trim screws from the interior panel at the tailgate-kinda holda the floor board in place. You can see the other end w/ the same stop sign look in the trim panels. The garage all-a-mess. Trim panels/stop signs from inside cabin before box went in. I was still kinda LEARNING on the vinyl work so be nice I've gotten lots better since these pics. Rear end comin together. This is one of the sexiest boxes I've done IMO. What you guys think? Note the HORRENDOUSLY ugly couch. I ended up not liking how it looked when you could see perfectly into/alll the way thru the box w/ the seats down so i sanded the plexi JL logos w/ 2000grit to give em a "frosty" look and light up better w/ the neons in. Startin to wire em up. If you saw already One amp went on each side, here's how they came about: So thats the 4 channel flushed on one side Next is the Ref 500 for the subs on the other side Few other final angles of the other side I think THIS is the most complete shot I took cuz the owner was gettin bitchy bout gettin his truck back. I had to mash and finish it up quickly so no lighted pix (actually had to wait on the lights he was so impatient on gettin his ride back so i gave it to em w/ no lights) AND....he kinda forgot to mention that the deck he had in had a DEAD sub out/RCA so i spent a lot of much needed time tryin to fig out why I had NO signal to the subs and THEN after bitching me out about it and threatening not to pay me...He said "Oh yea The sub rca is dead, but I'mma get it warrentied"... I was like :ranting2: :ranting2: No more "Pay me when it's done"...now it's $$ up front. All in all it came out ok I think. I still like the box and it sounded GOOD. Not CRAZY loud, But great SQ and loud enough to PWN folks in traffic...sum folks anyhoo. Downside: He pretty much trashed it from what I heard. Took it out to go camping and left it in his garage where is cat attacked it and pissed on it something retarded. So it goes. This was one of my first SERIOUS builds, before my car even. Lemme know what you guys think.
  18. Nice. Adios back seats tho :bye2: I'd hope that massive box is bolted to the floor somehow for SAFETY SAKE. I read an article a while back about a guy with a '96 Integra 2dr, like mine essentially. He had a sub setup like that in the back seat area. It wasn't bolted down and when he wrecked his car by running it head on into something (I forget what) the box flew forward with such force he was crushed. It said he would have otherwise survived based on airbag/crumple zone etc. It was right around the time I was buildin my setup and I was still up in the air about puttin my subs in the back seat but that kinda helped me make up my mind. Not tryin to poop on the party just sayin keep that bish bolted down for sure. What were your ##'s and setup before for those of us out of the loop?
  19. Nice! I like the old school RF amps-I used to have a few 250m^2's and 500m's those were baaaadd ass amps. Not really a fan of Paseos either but yours looks really clean, nice rims too although i'd go chrome
  20. Damn you beat me to it! I was just thinkin: "155 in the kick, 152 on the dash...151 in the living room...prolly mid to high 140's in the bathroom down the hall..." HAHA! get that bish metered in every room of the house. Awsome lookin towers steve, i can't wiat for the Finale shots. :w00t:
  21. I was with ya (kinda) until them low end Audiobahns popped up outta the rear deck. X10 on the messed up $$ to knowledge ratio. I was thinkin-maybe HE did the audio LAST and had just run outta $$ after RIDICULOUS screen in the trunk...then i saw THE PLATES and it all made sense. I can hear her telling the salesman at "Jack you up Car Audio and Rib shack"-"I want the ones with the flames on em!" I have met 1 female that was "truly" into audio and she thought her 2-12w0's were slammin in her prelude.
  22. Sweet. Thnx for the info guys. I've said it b4 on here, I can buil ok , but I aint as PC savvy so it's a good thing we got some good in house tech support.
  23. Jebus there's a tonn of pix. I been scanning pix straight since I last. I think i'mma melt the scanner. When I put em up i'mma use Photobucket. That won't count as attatched to this site right? or should I just put the url's from PB?
  24. I just got my scanner rollin again and I was just wondering if I should post up "THE OTHER 8 MILLION" lexus pics, pics of My Integra (the build rather than the final shots) and the 300zx install, and a couple other setups I built? The other option was maybe wait for the "system of the month" idea to get figg'd out...not sayin i have a chance at it but Steve Nominated me and I said I'd scann up the pics asap. Anybody got and thoughts on this? Does it even matter? I dun wanna blow up the bandwidth if its not needed tho too.
