The best crimping tool that i found is from Harbor Freight. This is it right here. You have to kinda squeeze it together first to get it into the tool but once you get it crimped on there that wire will not go anywhere.

If that is okay to go with the covers you could go to ur local autozone and get AVS tail covers. You can also find them on JC Whitney, i also found them on autotrucktoys.com or you can go to the manufactuers website lundinternational.com and they will tell you where to find them.

If ur just using it for when ur in ur vehicle most head units with the ipod adapter charge them up so it should work, it sucks that something like that happend but it really doesnt suprise me. There is alot of people out there trying to make a quick buck. If ur gonna use it outside ur vehicle, best thing i can tell you is, to take it to an apple store and have them fix it, it shouldnt be much.

Im sure you could make those work, just make sure you have no touching wires and you should be fine. Also for that price you could save urself the time waiting for them, by just going and getting regular nuts and bolts it would be right around the same price.

I use regular bolts, I drill a hole in the box a little smaller than the actual bolt its self, put ur wire with your connector on then a nut and then a washer and ratchet it in the box. Then on the outside i put a washer, then a nut, then the other speaker wire w/ connector then another bolt to finish it all off. Some people just run their wires out a small hole and seal them up with silicone, and others run them straight out the port, which IMO looks tacky and should really only be done if you have no other choice. You can buy the bolts at Menards or anyplace that sells Nuts Bolts and Washers. I usually go with a 5 or 7/16 bolt thats about 2- 2 1/2 long with the washers and nuts to match.

Heres something i would try, go and get some Sea-Foam from Autozone take 1/3 of the bottle pour it in a cup. Find ur vaccum line that sucks into ur intake manifold (make sure it goes to all of them) suck up all the seafoam then immediatly shut ur car off. You might need two people for this cause the car might die before it all gets in there, best thing to do is have some one have their foot slightly on the gas pedal. then wait 10-15minutes then fire that thing up and rev it till all the heavy smoke dissapates (sp). See if that helps any dont know if it will but its still a good thing to do every once in a while.
