is your ac adapter (charger) aftermarket? like is it some universal one? my hp had this issue. the computer need a 60 watt ac adapter, and since the universal aftermarket one i had was 90 watt, it was doing some protection mode not allowing it to charge so it wouldn't screw up the laptop basically

while connected, hold the middle button and menu. or is it the middle button and play? i never remember, but it works every time. try both. just hold it for a good 10 seconds or so
