  1. the few people i know that have used db electrical, have had no issue, but they have had <2000 rms systems, not sure if that matters id suggest getting a quote from mike singer at singer alternators, see where his price range lands for you, for me, his price was a good deal cheaper for same power alt then some of the competitors i got quotes from and he has a great reputation in the car audio community for multiple reasons and ive heard nothing but good things about his alts also hoping for a used one from a more reputable company or saving up is the other way to go
  2. i dont plan to skimp out, i want to power this baby with at least 2k, hoping i can find a way to afford that, lol lol yea they are pretty nice jsut expensive subs. i wanna upgrade the amp soon. its not doin the job lol yea, im getting a good deal on mine though, so thats the only reason im getting, before this i was gonna go with ascendant audio most likely or FI
  3. i dont plan to skimp out, i want to power this baby with at least 2k, hoping i can find a way to afford that, lol
  4. ill keep that in mind, main thing right now is trying to get as close to the 2k rms mark as i can for around 300, mainly cause i stillneed my alt, and funds is definitely an issue, been 1 year plus without bass, but trying to do things right before i get into building
  5. originally was going to strap, but after all said and done that would be 500 bucks spent on 2 dats when i could have gotten the same power for less, thats why i was thinking about getting this amp form my friend cause i would be saving a lot more money as for box, i was originally wanting a tline or 6th order, but do to having a trunk, neither of those will work out too well with a subwoofer of this size, so im thinking standard ported with like a 6 inch aero, tuned around 35 or so, i had a design done up in sketch up, but forgot to save before closing it down, will redo when ive got some time just sucks had the dat forever couldnt afford the sub, got the sub, now dont got an amp to power it properly thanks for the input though, im planning on getting a vid of the dat being powered on and such to help with sell, and once i get some pics, ill put it up for sell i think at a few places ill take a look for some of the amps suggested and see where the budget falls depending on the sale of the amp, i may go ahead and get my alt before getting the amp, so at least i know i have the power to back the amp i get took a look at a few suggested, slightly out of price range, but i may be able to get a good used one somewhere or throw a bit of money maybe should have originally went with the orion 2500d sensai offered me, lol would go great with this HCCA
  6. Anyone know of any quality amps that do around 2000rms at 2 ohms for under 300? Used or new doesnt matter as long as it works great. Trying to power a dual 4 at 2ohms and want to try and give it full power I originally planned to run the dat 1000 i have, but i got a good deal on an orion hcca 15.4 (i was selling it on here for a friend, but my own funds came through, so took it down) so since the sub is a 2000rms sub and the dat cant power it as much as i want, i was going to get another dat, but then i could get an amp from my friend along with the sub, so decided not to get the other dat. But then i decided before committing to that amp (audiopipe 3k) i would try to see what other options there were. so, anyone have any experience with some 2k rms at 2ohm amps for a decent price and under 300 new or used, cause i can get the audiopipe for a good deal, and i now they have good and bad feedback for their amps, but just wondering if theres other options
  7. ive heard nothing but good things and quite a few people on this site have done reviews and many of them are on youtube
  8. he possibly got that from the tline tutorial where forevrbumpn says Over the years I have learned tricks, and short cuts to tlines. I stick with tlines, because personally, its the Perfect box, for your sub. No more of that, "What box sounds best for my sub?" If you do a tline based on your subs Fs, That IS the perfect box POSSIBLE for that sub. Its in the environment that subwoofer is built for, with absolutley NO amplifier strain, yet huge db outputs.
  9. if you can fit and upgrade to better speakers, id say go for it, i dont know how much difference you will notice form a 4 inch to a 5 inch or bit bigger speaker, but even just upgrading from stock will make a different i have 4 x 6 in my front doors that are factory, ive not upgraded them yet, but i personally am gonna move up to 6.5s for the front doors, ill have to do some modding but i think ill like it better in the end
  10. id go morel of polk any day, thats my personal preference though, id say morel has much better standing in the SQ realm than polk
  11. arc audio is good quality stuff, its is more sound quality based though, so it depends on what your goal is for your setup
  12. i just saw one of these tricked out real nice yesterday, this is gonna be nice
  13. i may do that sometime, when i have free time, its a 2.5 hour drive from me according to google maps, LOL
  14. you sir can kiss your social life goodbye. I know how much work is involved in electrical engineering, and your adding software to it. Good luck. Ive tried to inform him of this so hopefully he heeded my warning, lol I can back up that statement. I start sept 1st at rose hulman for my 3rd year, 7th semester at rose. Electrical engineering/computer science (either minor or major) though I may be switching up some stuff. We will see. plus now im going to have to stand over bcp to make sure he doesn't start slacking off..... lol lol, yea keep him busy, haha i wouldnt mind just visiting rose hulman and checking it out, would be interesting just looked at the website, rose hulman is the best technology school in the country that doesnt have a doctorate program, its ranked 1st in all its major subjects in the country, only reason it doesnt stand up to the more noted colleges and universities is that it doesnt offer a doctorate, lol great job guys, though the tuition is lots, haha but its worth it
  15. congrats BCP, rose hulman is a great school and very tough i believe as well i start tomorrow for graphic design, my 3rd semester
  16. what about any of the cameras here at tiger direct http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=4442 the one i think its the night owl, comes with dvr with 500gb drive and 4 cameras his other two business are next door to each other, so he would only need a single dvr for those and maybe 4-6 cameras to cover both properties
  17. if you want a price quote, you should hit up the DC thread hereon the forum, there is a topic in there that tells you who the nearest rep is for dc in your area, then you would need to talk to one of those reps this thread is for selling equipment you have, not finding price quotes here is the thread http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/78-dc-sound-lab-big-bass-on-another-level/
  18. alright thanks right now he has the current security cameras recording straight to an external harddrive, and the quality is crap, lol ill show him the link and see what he thinks considering when he got robbed they busted the glass door in front which cost 400 to replace, having a camera to catch that and find the vandals would be worth the extra money
  19. yea ive never needed them before so no knowledge of whats good i know he is hoping to get at least 4 cameras or so and staying under 250
  20. Thats hilarious, cause my uncle was just telling me about going to harbor freight and looking at their cameras, they are like 199 for 4 of them or something, its his money but i show him pelco as well
  21. Does anyone know of any good quality security cameras within a decent price range? id like to have at least 4 cameras that can be monitored from the computer s well as monitored remotely form another computer if need be or even a cell phone if possible this is for my uncle, he is wanting to get a security system for 3 of his businesses my uncle got some from ebay that seem like Chinese knockoffs, and i finally got him to break down and get some good quality cameras, cause his shop was broke into last week and the cameras caught nothing useful, because they stopped recording for some reason thank you for any and all help
  22. well thats just turrible tuning to the bass boost, LOL but to each his own forevrbumpn has stated that tlines can normally play well up to an octave below and above tuning, however sani is also right saying higher tuning can hurt the ability to play lows a lot of it is how close to the t/s of the sub you build the tline, as well as whether its a constant port area tline or a taper tline or a bandpass tline, if you need to lower port area, see if you can taper it from 150 to 140 rather than just going with a lower port area, tapering may help with space issues and should still offer good response as always with tline questions you should also check the sticky in the enclosure thread and see if others have had a similar issue or hope to get more responses hear by people that may have more experience with tlines edit: also dont try to get more out of a tline than it can give, tlines arent normally built with low end monster bass in mind, their normally for tight accurate bass response within a good range of tuning and also for getting loud on lower power
  23. since they arent made anymore its gonna be very tough to find one, ive only come across two people thats had the 4 chan amps and the people that have dat amps that work great, dont want to sell them too quickly normally, lol
