Going to buy a clamp meter today from harbour freight and see how it does...will be clamping my iraggi 300 amp alts and my stock GM 160 amp alt and maybe a crunch GPV2000.1 for shits and giggles

DC is how you would clamp amps right? i havent owened a clamp meter and have never clamped anything...im more interested in my alts.

i need to clamp AC voltage for my alts and amps why do i need to clamp dc current?

You need an AC clamp to measure speaker wires, but a DC clamp to test an amp's current draw or an alternator's output.
