Yes they are under rated, but also the sub is, i clamped 1700 watts to each 3518 and they´ve been getting the abuse for about a year now without any problems, i´m guessing that after impedance rise and voltage drops, you´ll get no more than 1000 watts if you are lucky, only way you blow that sub with that amount of power it´s if you clip it, so you are good to go!! About electrical, yes get the biggest XS power you can fit in the front, big3 , at least 1 pos and 1 neg runs from batt to amplifier and let´s pray it doesn´t drop that much, the car i talked about upgraded the stock alternator and changed that piece of crap for a Nissan Versa´s alternator, same one that i use on the Suzuki Swift, those things are MONSTERS , 140 amps for about 70$??? doesn´t get any better than that I would do something like 4.2 cubic feet and 74SQ of port if you are going with a slot, or maybe a single 8" PVC tube with some nice flares on the end, that should pound as hell, here´s a video from the car i talked about, that thing plays nasty even with 4 windows open, too bad the camera mic was a piece of crap when i taped that video, don´t worry, i´ll get you another one soon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WkWFAtI9KU

You are correct my friend, but after a lot of testing, i can tell you this, 3500 and 9500 series LOVE more port than the DD´s webpage plans, remember they are intended for some basic daily application...

I built a nissan sentra (trunk car) with a single DD 3515 and a DD m2, 145.3 @ 48 hz on the meter with a VERY musical box, i fucking love that sub man, 4-4.5 c/f and 72-80SQ of port it´s a kickass box for that sub, a 1500.1 it´s a very small power for that sub believe it or not, so yes it´s safe using that amplifier on your application

that´s for the mustang or what car? tuning it´s too high if you are looking for something like a 47 hz peak, but once again, i dunno what car is it or the resonant frequency of it. About box size, well, i love small boxes for burp, but you don´t have the power for a good small as hell box, you need an eficient box , specially since the peak you are looking for isn´t high at all, once again, i´m trusting your word saying it´s a 47 hz tuning. Said that, i would start with 3.5 cubic feet and start shrinking it until you find the sweet spot, i´m asuming you have a sensor to test with right?? if you don´t , then i would guess something like 3.2 cubic feet and a 8" aero with a 42-43 hz tuning should get you a nice score on the frequency you are looking for, but you know how SPL is, test test and test!!

if box it´s ok then yes, i made a few mistakes on my initial boxes on the explorer, now, i can score a 148 EASYLY with a pair of DD 2512´s and 2500 watts

I don´t like it at all hommie, box turns out WAY too small for lows, why do you want to tune it so low man? those subs seems to be AWESOME , i can asure you, they can play WAY below tuning. i would tune around 36 or 37 hz but that´s just me

you can always go with subs back/ports side hommie, that works great on a lot of trunk cars,BUT, if you wanna go with everything forward sealed of the trunk then that should be louder. Said that, i understand you, 6" aeros can´t fit there unless they arent flush mounted wich you can try, or just stick with a nice slot port; With those measures, i´m sure you can go with a port 14.5" H x 4" W x 23" D on a L shape port, that would give you a very nice port area with a 37 hz tuning and around 1.9 cubic feet per sub after all displacements, that should work!

More port means you need even more lenght to tune it lower. this is what i want somethhing that sounds good on music but can also get me 140 Hommie trust me, getting to 140 isn´t hard, i don´t know much about those subs, but a regular daily box that sounds good on almost every pair of 12´s would be something like 4 cubic feet and 60SQ of slot port, maybe you could use a pair of 6" aeros or 3 4" aeros, i can asure you, that should score a 140 without any problems...

151.8 for me with 2 12´s on a 3 cubic feet box and 2 6" aeros, that´s 18.66SQ per cubic feet of aeros and yes, it sounded great on music, i´m not gonna lie to you, it was kind of peaky because of the port size, but was nasty as hell.

I´ve always said it, that 12-16SQ of slot and 8-12SQ of aeroport rule is dumb lol

for a pair of 12´s on small power i think it´s a waste of wood getting a double baffle, i would only use some nice bracing and that´s it, but yes a double baffle should work great

I know south africa owns a few world records on IASCA, i´m pretty sure car audio over there must be very popular

yeah man, i love those little subs, he bought a pair of crossfire BMF now and i´m building his box next week, i told him to give me the pioneers and he said no problem, im gonna build a box for them in the explorer, you can count i´m hitting a 150 with those subs and a single SS xxx4000.1 wired @ 1 ohm

Roof it´s definitly the worst, you better foam it and deadning to it , if not, prepare for some broken braces!! also, watch out with the back window seals!!
