Well we ended up going with with the Sony KDL-40V3000, looks like a real good tv, paid 1488 I think. Now she's giving me $500 to make a surround sound system, any suggestions on a receiver?

My mom is lookin to get 40-42" HD LCD TV, about 1200$ spending limit not including the surround sound package. Just wondering what are the best brands to be looking at? She seems to like sony but I'm not sure if thats the best. There are also Toshiba, Samsung and LG to choose from, its probably gunna be bought from Cosco, Best Buy or Future shop. Well I'm from Calgary so it's pretty hockey crazy here, used to live in BC as well and hockey is huge there. Been playing since I was little. Always been jealous of the states sports though, our high school and college sports are pretty much a joke here, hockey is all we got! I think something stupid like 52% of the NHL are Canadians lol. Nismo, avalanche hmmm... vancouver still ahead Damn division, 4 top teams are separated by 2 points, edm is close behind too.

I always use GG, just be careful to not get it on your hands and clothes, it will not come out of clothes, and looks horrible on your hands for a few weeks. Though its extremely strong, i think the wood will break before the glue comes apart.

To give you something to compare it to, I'm 17 (18 in a month) I've been driving since I was 16, I have a clean record and it costs $4500/year for me to have full coverage on a 2001 Honda Accord. $1600/year for liability only on a goddam 91 caravan. Insurance seriously rapes us here.
