  1. That is really the only major issue we've had and it has been fixed; there may be some floating around in stock that may be affected (which we will warranty fix)... but anything built recently either in-house or factory is good to go.
  2. A pretty large increase; I'll leave off guessing and post up the real # when I build one
  3. Please do share. Eh, I feel bad about it.. but whatever you say Jacob.. Thats one of the reasons I didn't pick up a pair.. and went with what I did. I couldn't find many builds with them, or really any info on them.. Now.. With that being said.. I loved the shit out of my SA8s.. For what they are, they definitely pack a punch.. and then some.. and took 2x rms daily perfectly fine. I didn't have any real complaints. Now, if i saw more coverage (in ported boxes) on the X series on the forums.. and the reviews were good.. Id have a pair in my hatch right now. If you have a legit concern I'd like to hear it. After SBN you may be seeing quite a few more of the builds that are out there ; of course a ton of them are 4th order builds for SPL purposes : -- 4th order buildMike Jenkins was rolling with X-12s for a while in his ported build before going to Z v.4s : -- With Z v.4 -- With Z v.4The Z v.4 and X performed similar with the Z v.4 being about 1 dB louder. We also had two X-10s in Jovanni's car for a while ported : -- Two X-10 on an NS-1These are just a few I know off hand.
  4. We received a shipment that covered quite a few open orders; but not all of them. That shipment was gone before it got here. Average lead time on items that are being built is about 4 weeks right now. We have had to build a good portion of the Xs sold over the last 2 months in-house. A second shipment of X from our factory are due on April 11th -- hopefully after that shipment we can get closer to caught up... pretty much that whole quantity is already sold; and we'll use them to fill the oldest orders. We are also adding another full-time woofer builder in May... and will start getting much larger shipments of X around June to, hopefully, keep up with demands.
  5. It's largely a matter of perception. The X has sold 3x the units in one year that the Z v3 has in 3 years. There are a TON of units out there with a big quantity going to people active on forums. Car Audio folks also tend to love change and trying new stuff. When i was younger I had a new woofer every month just to experience something different. All in all feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Some people aren't used to the sound as it is quite different. The suspension linearity changes the sound dramatically by removing the "high bass" hump that traditional drivers create over stroke. That effect is pure distortion but some people like it and it's often described as "punchy" I am sure others have their "opinion" -- but these are the facts. We cannot keep up with demand for them due to word of mouth on people loving them.
  6. In technical terms... the coil is very big and is comparable to many other subs rated for higher power levels. The suspension is also almost impossible to damage anywhere near rated power. Provided the enclosure is good they are very rugged.
  7. Correct -- the 125.4 is a full-range Class-D model so it is much smaller and runs really cool. Overall they have been great; with the first run we had a slightly higher than average RMA level -- as with anything new this is pretty normal; from then on out they have been especially awesome
  8. Thanks! We do our best to strictly enforce MAP so that no dealer ever has to hear that you can buy our stuff for cheaper than dealer cost on e-bay.
  9. Okay I tracked it down. So it'll get shipped out right away.
  10. What is the order information on the one unit that didn't ship ?
  11. We are just waiting for shipping confirmation from our factory; it's a bit fluid right now... but somewhere around 4 weeks once we get the word... which we expect any time now.
  12. NS v.3 will be shipping any time now. We have shipped out a small handful with prototype sleeves. Full production sleeves should be in next week. The "Team" motors will be finished at our motor factory soon... They are a little bigger than early prototypes
  13. We will have an option for other cone / surround combos down the line; which will actually be usable on all drivers with the new frames (X, Z v.4, and NS v.3) Really cone area is of minimal concern -- it's about 0.3dB different than a standard Z v.3 surround by cone area alone. For SPL the "issue" is that the new surrounds are heavy; they represent most of the mass other than the coil on these drivers. This extra mass is great for low frequency extension and all of the new motors are designed to handle the mass well; but not so much for SPL where you want the FS to go up since FS is derived from stiffness and MMS. So the optional cones with smaller surrounds primarily serve to shave off moving mass and increase the FS.
  14. I pulled the T/S spec today -- notice how low inductance is even with the massive fat coil. That is the pole sleeve in action -- and the NS v.3 also has a magnet ID ring and a pole cap ring... so triple faraday action Yes that is right around 1/2 of the Re in terms of Le.
  15. I came in yesterday and built this bad boy... a customer had ONE unit on order for a bit and I got a pair of the Aluminum sleeves as samples so I am building this one and one other one this week (both with fat 8-layer coils and are single sub orders). These also don't call for any Gap ID sleeves as they use the fat coil -- so I have enough parts to make them  ----- * Collecting the parts up. * You can see the black coated aluminum pole sleeve in place on the pole but not Gap ID sleeve -- so the overall gap is still pretty massive. The "fat" coil fills it up nicely, though. * Starting the rear glue joint * Rear glue joint completed * Prototype "XL" lead wire option. The XL spiders for the NS v.3 are EXTRA red in color. The stock spiders are a very faint reddish with smaller triple lead wires. These leads are prototypes for now -- we'll offer them later as an option for anyone. * It was interesting to get these all in the terminal. * Finished product * Finished product ----- So I hope to get it tested and dust cap on today
  16. Glad you like them -- the comparison to the XR set is a compliment. I used to own that set years ago until I bought a Linear Power 2.2HV and popped the mids Switched to some Morel MW-168 and kept the tweeters. IIRC that was in 2001-2002 or so. I think you will really like some of the future components I am working on that will keep getting louder well beyond what the SA set will -- but will also retain the smooth sound.
  17. The MAP cost has been changed as well : 10 - $739 12 - $759 15 - $789 18 - $819
  18. Copied from Facebook update this morning : Nightshade v.3 Update : As many of you know the NS v.3 features an "industry first" gap sleeve system -- the gap sleeves are all being machined locally; our machine shop did move their facility during out order so it has taken a bit of extra time. We do expect the sleeves to be done machining within 2 weeks; then we will be having them coated at another local vendor -- at which point we can start building! We are making 5 different gap OD sleeves (so 6 options here... as the fattest coil doesn't use an OD sleeve) and 4 different pole sleeves (Gap ID). That makes about 45 possible gap combinations for the NS v.3 motor! Most customers will simply need the "stock" setup so if you aren't super technical don't worry we make it easy by simply offering the "stock" setup that will work great in most setups.
  19. Indeed. The SA series bolt pattern is a bit smaller than "standard" 3 inch coil drivers. The 4-spoke frame has a little bit less clearance than the 12-spoke -- but we use a 7" spider on the SA line so that is no problem, it's a bit shallower than the 12-spoke, and I prefer to use my vent ring vs. open vents where I can... so we use the 4-spoke.
