I never heard an AQ but I've heard BL's and liked it was loud and sounded good.

I had a Hifonics 1610d refurbished it worked perfect and couldn't beat the price

I had mine tuned to 32 and for rap music is a lot of lows so I wouldn't go with a higher tuning, I'm sure once he hears it he will be happy with it.

I would tune it to 32 good tuning for rap music
