Cobalt Alternator
crunkjuice1 replied to darksoul187's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
They have a 180hp for my car but they told me it would be at its limits at 3000rms, and extra batteries would be needed. -

Well, considering it takes about 20 minutes to load in each product, and we have 2,500+ vehicle applications, (many vehicles available in more than one amperage) I'd say it will be a while before we have every single vehicle listed. I guess we could spend more time working on the website and less time building alternators. That way we would be like other companies that have a nice website but ship really slow... Personally, I'd rather speak to the customer on the phone and take their order that way. I don't know how many times someone ordered the wrong unit off our old online store, then wanted to return it. If it were up to me, we wouldn't even have an online store, but you have to give the people what they want. -
look at how many amps your system does pull by itself and if its more than what your alternator can support aside from what it was made for which is mostly your car by itself then call mechman or DCpower for what ever they recommend for you. Every install is different you could actually list the model of amp you have as well as the rest of if any electrical you have like big 3 or if you ran 0 gauge to anything. The more you tell us the more you can get help with. RMS if you are actually getting that means more than peak power.

Ordered a battery accessory through the website and everything went smooth. Thanks again! -
He's probably looking at efficiency or his sub combination can only go to 2ohm.

get the RF1500 thats what I would do. The S3400 is pretty good battery You will be fine with just that.

What to run 2kwrms on
crunkjuice1 replied to ChevyBoy95's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
If you have waited this long just put your mind to it and wait and save a bit longer and just get a HO alt. Patience is a virtue It took me 7 months to finally get my alt I noticed even with adding a second battery once my amps hit batteries up the stock alt just couldn't keep up with amps and trying to top off batteries. I played it safe and not bumped for awhile since I realized for my setup I ran through three stock alts. Every setup is different but I still think you should save up for mechman or DCpower alt. I can only speak of mechman that you will most likely get a mounting bracket made to help mount their alt to your car, and DCpower most likely does the same. -
The alt is very important don't skimp on it call mechman as well as DCpower and compare prices, amperage's and idle output, also keep in mind of any future upgrades you might want to do and go from there. Matt over at mechman answers the phone as well as Emails in a much more timely manner though. Good luck.

You also don't need the biggest they sell it is good though for future upgrades but you can get by with just enough amperage for what you have. That can save money too. Just tell them what you have to work with and they will tell you what you options are or if you will need to add a battery or what.

Battery sitting voltage
crunkjuice1 replied to SPLadd1ct's topic in XS Power Batteries / Chargers! (and other stuff too)
$200 0_0 thats a little steeper then what I want to pay, thats half way to a ho alt , then they would be fully charged anyways I hear you I have this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Schumacher-75-20-10-2-Amps-speed-charge-automatic-battery-charger-engine-starter/_/N-2604?itemIdentifier=58755&_requestid=3439689 Does a good job has AGM setting and automatic float charges when done so if you forget or leave the house you wont mess them up. And even if when the day comes you get your HO Alt you should still throw them on a charger every here and there. -
Shit always happens at the wrong times, I hope its something small.
-
I had a bad alt a few times but even with a DMM I still saw 13.8v at battery terminals. The best thing to do is pop it off and get it tested at advance or autozone. I was told that if I had kept on using it like that I could F up my batteries and other things. So its good to catch that as soon as possible, might not be that but cover all your bases.

I'm not the sharpest tool but maybe you can check the alternator.
