I am finally going to get my cherokee build going, finances are going to allow somewhat of a budget build. I am going with 12-15s and I can't decide on a tunnel like mr. P's old setup or a clamshell of sorts. I am goin with DC subs and amps, still undecided on which lvl and what amps. So please someone help me decide, thanks.

Wow that sounds like alot of work for numbers like that, I did 146 in the kick of a single xl 12 facing the trunk in my kia (not to brag) but I still have lots to learn myself when it comes to high power installs. Hope your build go wells and is worth the time, have u thought about using 1" mdf and thicker allthread?

Mine shipped today, can't wait for them to arrive. Got my bro inlaw to order a pair of level 2 10s for his truck too, and I only ordered yesterday and all shipped today. A+ customer service yet again DC.

Well I have set my amps finally and took the sub out to check the tinsels and spider landings and everything looks perfect, still having that trouble with the noise at high volumes and that sub moves more than the other, someone please let me know what else to try.

Already resolved that issue, epoxied the dustcap myself

Please chime in if you can advise me on strapping the amps

Well its only the one sub and no I don't freeair my subs, it is the farthest from the port tho

Dmm is broke so I will have to get another and subs are dual 1s wired at 2ohms for break in, at comps I was planning on wiring at .5ohm, the one I reconed did fine on the single amp at .5ohm though. More input on strapping amps, noob to that.

I reconed my XL 12 and shimmed it like all the other recones I've done and all glue joints were done perfect to my knowledge. The subs plays fine till a certain volume and the makes a mechanical noise like bottoming out but it never did before and it has an extra spider this time. Also I have the 2 subs on 2 sundown 2000s and I broke my dmm so I can't check to be sure if they are putting out the same power. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I have personally heard this beast, its a tough lil car, and if u thought that is impressive you should see the pair of rockets he had in it. Two sundown ns12s I believe in bass tubes with 6" aeros, subs forward, port to the rear and ratchet strapped down so they don't take off!

In a 09 kia spectra, that was in the kick I mite add, and my box had 2 4" aeros and was tuned around 45hz, but it also pulled 165 in the port, just one port lol. I know you are happy with that xl though, they don't dissappoint.

Yeah no need to worry, my xl was the same way and I overpowered by just a little with my sundown 2000 at .5 ohms and played it for hours. I just reconed it so it would match my new one and come to find out it had a ripped spider but I got an extra spider on the new one and recone so im good to go. Even with the ripped spider I hit my best number of 146 out of a rear facing trunk setup with just the one 12, DC ftw.

Yeah exploders aint too bad for a cheap sub. My suggestion would be to take a whack at box building and build a custom box and see how much better they sound. And good luck on future installs because the more you listen the more you become addicted and want more.

That's awesome. I only did a 144 with my single xl12 in a trunk setup, but it hit a 162 in the port. Box was not sealed to the cabin and facing the rear though.

Get 4 SA 12s and a saz3500, that would be very loud in a hatch.

Need another 12, rusty is out of motors and I was planning on reconing my other so blown sub is fine if the price is rite.

Well you should get the level 4 15 like everyone posted, and if you were planning on ordering soon you would have to wait till august for the xl, out of motors

Get the 3500

For the 500 get another 18 and another amp, and you would have more cone area than 4 12s and twice as much power. Just my 2 cents
