  1. Edit: Yeah my bad. Do what hdorre said. Guess I read it a bit wrong.
  2. was it necessary to start a new thread for this.... you click edit on the first post and then click use full editor. /thread
  3. x2 its clipped somewhere. make sure when you adjust everything you have everything at 0 or flat. you dont want no negative eq or anything on the head unit and you dont want anything turned up on the amp. you say you have the subwoofer setting on 15? im guessing thats max? turn it down to 0 and readjust your gains..your clipping like a mofo on that I have tried setting the gains with it on 0, and it still does the same thing, I am not new to car audio I have been doing this for years but I have never ran into a problem like this, all my eq settings are flat, no bass boost or anything turned on, crossover set at 75 hz, subsonic is on, etc... I'm really at a loss. I am running 4 ga. power/ground wire, 2 100 amp fuses (one by battery one by amp) Ground is fine I would say because it never cuts out or goes into protect. Its grounded to the chassis about 10 inches from the amp. I'm thinking it is probably the electrical in my car, its a 07 honda civic. when I turn it up all my lights are dimming even the illumination on the HU. Any chance you checked your voltages...grab a DMM and check the battery voltage with the car off, hopefully you see 12.# then crank the car up and make sure it reads between 13.5-14.4. I don't have a DMM lying around though do you know anywhere that would have one I could use? maybe like auto zone or something? Discount Auto Parts SHOULD have one, call them and ask. The absolute WORST thing you can do is charge a dead battery with your alternator. It can hurt your battery and your alternator. If your battery has been resting at 9v or something then it is severely hurting your amp and subs and rest of your car, which explains why your lights dim.. Ok thank you again for your help. I have been installing small systems for a long time but I know very little about batteries and voltages and all that. If its not the battery could it be the wiring on my stock electrical? As in big 3 upgrade, would that help with voltage drop? Big 3 helps current flow. With more current flow allowed, it can be better regulated. Thats pretty much as simple as I can say it for the Big 3. Imagine if you will, trying to stick a golf ball through a garden hose, the golf ball representing the excess current not built for stock electrical. then try rolling a marble through a garden hose, it would just naturally slide through, marble representing what stock electrical is meant to handle. When putting the extra load on it, those wires usually 4ga or 8ga are just too small to handle the extra load. Not to be rude, but you say you've been installing system for quite some time but dont know much about batteries and voltage.. hm well...your amp wants between 12-18v. most common being 14. if you run the system with the car off and not being charged, or if the system is sucking a lot more power than the car car charge at, its going to drain the battery power if the battery gets too low, it causes the system to mess up.. Anybody else care to chime in. My fingers are tired Well if you have to say "not to be rude" your being rude lol. I said I have installed small systems that have not required much power, so I never had to worry about battery voltage and whatnot, hence is the reason I came here asking for help. I have never did a big 3 upgrade or anything like that so I am new to that whole sort of thing. Don't worry man. I am a chill guy. Check your voltages though for sure.

EDIT: and why your subs heat up, because low voltage could induce clipping as well.

  8. Yeah sorry I forgot to mention that I knew that info already my HU clips at 28 and I set my gains at 26, so that isn't the problem. Thank you for trying to help though! Ah, ok, well, I dont really want to sit here and type for 10 minutes, but I would check all your wiring up to the sub terminals to make sure nothing is shorting out. Make sure all connections are secure. What gauge Power and Ground wire are you using for your amp? Just to get this question out there since I know it will be asked.
  9. Well if you cranked your head unit to full tilt, even if your gain was 1/32 the way turned up, your still gonna clip. You must FIRST find out where your head unit clips, and not turn it past that. THEN you can proceed to tune your gains.
  10. DRIVE PEOPLE! If I wasn't in Florida id be there to just watch! This should be great! Good idea meade. Vids soon! You should set up some form of live chat room such as Stickam or something so we can watch it live. Just an idea! EDIT: i have seen you had some live stream in the past, but I am not sure what it was, or if you hosted it yourself
  11. Uhm, with your speedo doing that max out, and your head unit shutting off, in all honestly I would completely unplug my system till I figured out the cause..what if it were to short and blow your woofers, your amp, and possibly anything else? Just more strain on the short by using the system... Physically reversing polarity to fix something that happened un-intentionally is not going to fix it. It will band-aid fix it and could cause your more problems in the future.. I dont know what the issue is, the speedo going to max is something I have never heard of. But I think it could be your eyes playing tricks on you. Its REALLY hard to see a sub which way its bumping..
  12. I was hoping for a local who wouldnt have to ship... I am honestly thinking about doin it myself but the only thing that I know I would have a problem with is the tuning. and making the port... Do it yourself if you can man, what are you worried about tuning and the port wise? Let us know, myself and MANY MANY others on the forum would be glad to help and explain, answers are abundant here. What are you confused about?
  13. You sure everyone who's commented on this hasn't heard them? Whats DC? Washington DC, it's in Virginia. Go back to school, kid. Oh okay sorry kid :/ I didn't know Washington DC was in Virginia. DC is actually not part of ANY U.S state, and is actually governed by the federal government. But alright, let me get back to reading the constitution... oh yeah and btw, if you wanna say the district of columbia is in a state, its more in Maryland than VA. Good call buddy! EDIT: why do you got to get all spiteful? loosen up a bit...
  14. You sure everyone who's commented on this hasn't heard them? Whats DC?
  15. Rofl...umad? We're apparently all DC gung ho, but you're just the opposite. What color is the kettle? Black. lmfao tonedeaf. i was actually reading your build log when i got this sent to my phone. rofl. "what color is the kettle? Black."
  16. Uhm, I am going to say you need at-least 20" height to make 4 cubes. 17d x 26w x 20h is going to give you 4 cubes. to get 5 cubes you would have to bump the height up to 24-25" which this gives you 4 and 5 cubes before displacement. Why not build it yourself? Sealed boxes are the simplest type of sub box to make. And shipping a sub box is NOT cheap. Neither is labor to have someone else build it. You can do it man! Have a look at some build logs. You can take a look at mine, its in my sig. And see how people build them. Not hard man, some MDF, some glue, and a few clamps is really all you need. Or you could get fancy and use a nail gun or screws. But I dont know where Santa Clarita Valley is, so I cant help much with recommending anyone who builds boxes...sounds like california though.. or on the southern coast like new mexico.
  17. I don't think it matters honestly different SIZE batts, and tbh, i run different type batts as do a lot of people. i dont think its the BEST idea... but ive been doing it for 7 months. So after 7 months I feel I got my 245$ out of this battery... i dont see it dying anytime soon either. I would get the D1200 for under the hood and a D3100 for the trunk and call it a day if you can afford the D3100. If not get something like the D6500 its 100$ cheaper, and its rated to handle 4000 watts as a second battery and 3_ _ _ something as a standalone. Shoot an email to Nate. He will hook you up.
  18. I bought two sets of these a while back. Theyre decent. I dont mind em Cept it took me 10 minutes to figure out why they wouldn't fit on my battery terminal.... gotta use positive for positive and negative for neg. even though they arent marked But they are pretty heavy and feel like quality. I think I paid like 30$ for them iirc
  19. Sweet..I never use EQ on my iPhone...or anything to be exact. Ill jus use it at full volume
  20. Line out dock = 30pin connection I'm the n00b? What H/U do you have? Nah bro I was calling myself a n00b not you haha. Boss BV99## check my sig. Its a pos. Thought it was good when I got it...
  21. I dont think mine does. A little googling and I found out the port on my h/u is called USB A which i guess is mini. So they gave me a USB A male to USB B female adapter. Which I am thinking was quite stupid. I dont think my h/u will let me use my iPhone D: POS. LOL.. Ill test it out tomorrow I guess. But if someone with a DD-1 like RAY or someone...test it please? I am sure lot of people here would like to know
