  1. O-scope does not show distortion. So either way most likely he will have to buy an oscope or a dd-1, on top of a quality True RMS AC Current clamp meter, and a True RMS Digital multimeter. So a easy $600 in test equitement just to test something that a reputability company already knows and told you, and backed by many users real world clamp tests. But in the end, if you buy a legit amp, you can trust its ratings. no need to go thru all this to see what power your amp makes on a fixed resistance.. It will be very simular to the manufactures tests and ratings (as long as your not using sony, pyle jensen, pyrmid, power akoustik, ssl, etc, etc).
  2. imo that is cool and all, but that is how most amps are currently already tested, and those manufacture specs would never be anything near real world power you will see from the amp, especially after impedance rise. edit: Not to mention there will be no way to check for the power the amp is making is clean or not. You will also still need a way to measure the amps AC Voltage, and AC Current being made, so you would need to clamp the amp for its actual power being made. Id rather know the real power my amp is making, then a dummy load power I will never see due to impedance rise.

  5. Yes the T5 series component speakers by Rockford are great, at least they better be when the cheapest online reseller is charging 1100-1300 bucks for 1 set. LOL

  7. Most online resellers of products may still have the discontinued models at a heavily discounted price. So Id check around those sites! Maybe like www.audiosavings.com or other similar resellers.
  8. Looks great Steve!! I see you took the extra time to use the Cable Management holes!!! Now if all the people that keep posting pics of their rigs would use some cable management the internet would be a little bit better off! LOL
  9. I think 1 or 2 may have done it here. But what will really help you out is checking out soundman car audio http://www.soundmancaraudio.com/ I know they been redoing their site/forums so its not loading now. But they sell all kinds of assecories like right angle docking plugs, fiberglass ipad and ipad2 pre molded fiberglass shells etc to make it easier to integrate them into your dash. Also check out some of their youtube videos showing them how to do the installs.

  11. Just AQ? Or all bass knobs? Just the AQ knobs. However some amps will put out more power with out the knobs connected.
  12. what model number is the pioneer radio? and Kickass audio, the amps will take strapped at his impedance of .9 just fine!! Hell, I run my 4500s strapped at .7 (.35 per amp) and never have protect, or heat issues. Also drop to 11volts. LOL Just browsing simular current model pioneer radios that look simular to yours (judging by your vids on youtube) Im going to say its safe to assume your old pioneer radio was only 2 or 2.2volt pre outs. Your new kenwood is a 4 volt pre out. Your gain is too high on the amp. I know for Fact when you wire the amps down that low they will play fine. However if you clip them a little to much they will instantly protect!!!! Thus being your problem. New headunit, with higher preout voltage, gain setting is still set higher for a 2volt pre out, you now put a 4volt preout signal to the amp making your gain way too high causing the amp to go into a hard clip then going protect. Your gain should be right around 1/3 of the way up (maybe a little less) with no bassboost).
  13. Just a video I made a while ago and never felt like editing. I felt that most videos on the internet are low quality or very basic in explaining steps. Its a 20minutes long, but lots of steps are involved doing a complete recone where you have to glue all the parts together, solder the leads to the former and what not. There is a good amount of info in this video, however there is a great amount of information I edited out due to some of the techniques being somewhat secretive, and wouldnt want companies to get upset if they knew I gave out their tricks of the trade. :hand: I am not a professional, nor do I claim to be.
