  1. TTT I need these gone! I have 6 months of car insurance to pay on august 21st, Im a high risk driver and need to carry sr-22 insurance for 3 years or I lose my license, which I dont want to do. Im willing to take $350.00 for both amps PLUS Shipping. Shipping will ruffly be around $60 these are some heavy monsters! so around $410 shipped. I dont charge paypal fees, because I never once noticed paypal taking anything. They are being sold as is, currently not working, but can be fixed. I dont have the cash for the repairs, and got some VFL's that Im running now. These amps costed around $1800 each, not including $250 for international shipping. They will burp at .25 ohms each, I accdintly ran one at .2 daily because my volt meter gave me a false reading due to a dead battery. They will take 16.5 volts. 3000wrms by 1 @ 1 ohm 13.8v 4500wrms by 1 @ 1 ohm 16.5v I clamped mine at .2 ohms voltage down in low 13s, and had over 5000watts. So if you where to get them fixed and strap them at .5 or even 1 ohm with a 16 volt setup, you can expect to see well over 10,000watts of burping power if not more.!
  2. I dont want to say anyone is wrong or right here. So, Im jsut gonna say that calculation of the two 2 ohm configs, and the 2 8 ohms config would not be safe. Maybe it would work, but Id clamp the amp and also check the ac output voltage for each sub, if the output stage is not the same, I wouldnt risk running it like that. Boons statement seems correct, but the other way Im also seeing it, is that he is saying you cant series and parallel your wires together at the same time, which you can, but I think he knows that. Ive wondered about wiring like that before but never have. Id run at 2 ohms til you have money to step up to a second amp and run each amp at 1 ohm, or 2 ohm strapped. Out of curiosity tho, most people dont build boxes that have no box or impedance rise. Try wiring all your coils in parallel for a .5 ohm load, then stick a dmm on your speaker wire that would get attacted to your amp, and see what it says. You may get lucky and have enough rise to saftly run your amp with all coils paralleled to .5 ohms, but a final load with rise maybe like 1 ohm or higher.
  3. Ill probolly be there too proboly because it is a sound mekanix show. may have an amp to use by then. LOL Tommy K came out from IL today for the show in sheboygan.
  4. arnt these the xx colossus that ran the 2 boards in one heatsink some had problems with blowing up? Just thought Ive read that more then a few times.
  5. Sorry for the short notice, but sunday august 10th (2 days before my bday) there is a show in my home town at RPM Speed and Custom in Sheboygan Wisconsin on hwy 42. This is a 2 POINT event. Db drag Bassrace and Cash Clash is offered (you can win money in this even for 1st-2nd-3rd place), if your in the area stop by and join the c2 cash clash and get whooped by me!!! qualifying starts at 10am! Any other info needed contact me.
  6. Dont know how many seen this, but just a article i found about the hoopty. its called: Seriously, Wasn't One T15K Enough? Its a few months old however. http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/985/serio...one-t15k-enough
  7. This picture helped out a lot tonight, gave a good idea on how to apply even pressure to the dust caps. we probolly wouldnt of ever thought of it, lol!
  8. ^^^ x2 these are aeros
  9. as banging said, they will rock your socks off! they can easily burp at .35 ohms, and run .5 ohms daily. You are going to want at least 1 large battery chilling right next to that amp for sure tho.
  10. No, no, no, and no...... your technically already clipping the amp since you turned it up to a little under half, when it makes its rated power at about a quarter gain like you said. So you doubled the gain adding clipping. If you want the amp to do full power, upgrade your electrical system. The birthsheet with the amp that says 1600 watts is at a certain voltage, I think its 14.4 volts. Since you said your voltage is in the low 12 to 12.5 volts, your amp is starving for more power. You dont really tell if your clipping the amp, unless you hear distortion, but to hear the subs distort is vary hard by the human ear, unless you are clipping the signal that bad. Increasing the gain to 3/4 like you want will do a lot of things. It will make the amp work harder, and draw more power. It will clip the amp. It will lose its effiecny rating, so kiss that 84% good bye! (actually already kiss it good bye since your already exceeding the output voltage with the higher gain). It may fry the amp within time. It may fry your subs, the clipped signal will make your sub(s) xmax a lot less, so instead of 2 inches of cone throw, you may have 1 inch for example, which will result in dirty power on the coil and the coil will get hotter faster and not cool as needed because the xmax is not the same. Also your amp will run way hotter, heat is a effiency and wattage killer. put the gain back to 1/4th where it was origional set, and get a higher amp alternator, bigger powerwire if your not using 0 gauge, or try to get a battery in your trunk. Only thing you are looking at doing with the high gain is trashing your gear ( ie: subs, amps, both )
  11. ditto. some amps do not like it at all! When i did my big amps, I had the test tone on pause with my remote in the trunk with me, I could hear the note being played through my amps circuits with no speakers attached, I didnt like it one bit and drove to a shop with a scope 30 minutes away.
  12. wow im sorry, but lol.... Im pretty sure you can, but you have to wire it up to the distributer cap/ coil some where. I forget what it is, but I know it can be done. if your car has a stock tach you can just splice or scotchlock off that wire. are you going to put on a big spoiler and a coffee can muffler too??
  13. I dont see what the deal is, drill holes in mounting locations. hammer in t nut on back side of front baffle (inside the box) put speaker in hole, put in bolt (as in you do a screw) and tighten.
  14. just my friend messing around on his ped. Im trying to get him to take it to the skate park, but no luck yet. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoID=39462163
  15. That would be the specs that mtx gives you if you where to do the 2 cubed per sub http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwo...-Subwoofers.cfm but for some reason 8 cubes for 4 cheaper subs does sound a bit big.
  16. the online gain calculators take in to fact what ohm the amp will be played at. Thats why they ask you the rms voltage and ohm load and then gives you the number to set your amp at.
  17. The cobalt line is their entry level line. if it was an older orion amp Id say go for it, but being a newer one Im not sure. The old school stuff was great, but not a fan no more, altho the hcca subs look like a huge improvment vs all their old series subs. Its all made in china now, and owned by directed. I can say that I was not impressed with the hcca-d2400s that I had. bit writer tells me that its in protect for over under voltage and over current... Weird combination but whatever, the other amp was fine....
  18. I was going to say the same thing. My friend has one when i had my box in my trunk I think I pegged it. now with the wall I cant break a 124 no matter where i put the mic (port, window, kick, headrest). I just think its broke! lol
  19. yea sometimes its hit or miss Im lucky tho, we have an actual ace in my city, then we have a trilling true value hardware and it use to say ace on the building/bags/receipts (but its family owned and not corporate) but since the real ace came in town the other store dropped the ace. But between the two stores you can usally find what you need
  20. The money and prison time is max sentencing for the crime. One of the crimes is a sawed off shotgun or rifle (its weird that they dont know which one it is...) and sawed off guns are illegal and a felony. The mistaminor is nothing and will be lucky to get a $500 fine or less from that. If he is in custody now, the judge will probolly give him time served and order no more jail time due to such a weak offense. all in all he will proboly get around $1000 in fines plus court cost, 6-12 months probation and supervision fees, and since he was drunk maybe court ordered AA meetings. I watch fox 6 (milwaukee news) all the time, and havent heard a thing about this!
  21. and ass for the length, that all depends on how thick your front baffle is. I need 4 inch bolts for my front baffle to mount my sub/ or ports. but if you only have a 3/4 inch front baffle, a 1-1 1 1/4 inch bolt is going to be more then enough needed length.
  22. the biggest size that will fit. lol. Im sure you can fit at least a 1/4 inch bolt in the whole. I know im using 1.4 for my port bolts and t nuts, have yet to tnut my subs in yet. if you goto ace hardware just get a single bolt in a few different sizes and try them in your sub, return the sizes you dont use and get all the same size ones.
