If I was good at photoshop, I could post up any number of proto amps I have here to keep people talking for years -
DC Slim Line amps?

Only after the Lvl 5 tweeters are finished -
Sadly, not everyone understands what all goes into production of any product. They are quick to say fuk that, X product is cheaper and just as good. While Steve won't comment on the improved SQ quality, which is understandable as SQ is very subjective, It's not hard to take in the specs of this wire vs X mass produced brand to see the difference will make a difference SQ wise. While you may not hear a tonal difference, it sure is nice to not have to deal with the random crackling sound, or a slightly muted channel because the end has a short.

I just want to say to anyone who is put off about the price is to look into doing quality products yourself. Not only can good ends cost you a buck to 100 bucks EACH end, Quality coax or Twisted is difficult to find. There is an overload of crap wire in the market. I see it all the time in CCTV. just cause it looks the same, is called the same, doesn't mean it will perform the same. Nothing worse then running 1000ft of cheap and good in the same conduit, to see the quality difference be night and day on the screen. Yes, I did say 1000ft Then once you spend all this money for supplies, you have to take the crackhead time to solder them all together. Even if you think you are somewhat good at soldering, you will be challenged in a simple task as this. Hitting all those pins without having too much wire exposed, not getting the wire too hot to melt the inner jacket AND not getting the pin too hot and melting the support takes time, practice, and patience. I make my own rca's and trust me, Steve's prices are way cheaper then what I would charge

smd vm-1
kingsuv replied to GKF's topic in D'Amore Engineering - High Quality Car Audio Installation Tools & Accessories
These things take awhile to produce and get right 1st time out. I've seen the revisions 1st hand and they are worth the wait. Besides making revisions to any product is expensive. Tooling is no joke. It doesn't take but a very few times to be deeply invested into a product. -
Average Life?
kingsuv replied to Psycho631's topic in XS Power Batteries / Chargers! (and other stuff too)
Sitting in the garage, and having one hooked up in a car are 2 different things. Batteries properly stored will be fine. Newer cars have electronics that are always on. Over time, they will drain any battery no matter how nice or new it was. Same goes for setting an alarm system and letting it sit for months on end. -

5 months without at least a charge now and then is pretty harsh on any battery. It sounds like you are assuming their isn't a slow drain within the electrical system somewhere. I would suggest the next time you invest in a battery, that you also invest in a battery tender. -
Kingsuv approved. You may proceed

Looks like a little wider spider landing?

Its interesting, throught my entire career of installing/car audio retail store owner I never sold that many 8's But since we started selling them we sold ALOT of 8's I was amazed at how many people buy them. I have one in my own car and smashes. And it took me bugging you long enough to make them Now produce me a 800x2 KTHXBYE

Piston driver cone 6.5's like the old RF drivers. Nice comp set, not the pro driver shit everyone is copying right now. shallow mounts.

Start of another successful day of workin on the X. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to a buildlog

I think a sealed box is easier to fuck up then ported. IB is a great choice in a true SQ setup. It's allows the sub to help breath into the setup and not overpower it.
-
If you actually build boxes in a shop and not just grab prefabs out of the stock room, then designing and building a ported box takes no more time then sealed.
-
I think it is important to ask what do you consider SQ in regards to the substage? For me, I am finding out now that I don't like to "hear" the sub but rather feel it add to the overall presence of the music. I think when your ears draw you back when you hear the subs, it's too much in the overall sound of the car. SQ is the exact opposite of what we are looking for in spl.

Lets Discuss Sealing off the trunk. Results Inside
kingsuv replied to P4killer_'s topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
What I have found when sealing off the trunk is the cabin peak skyrocket. If you don't have the extra airspace of that trunk anymore, You will need to adjust your box tuning. Or find a class where you can bang with windows down.
