Subs forward, port side in mustang?
LZTYBRN replied to TylerParrish's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
That's only 7.8sqin. per cube. Needs moar port. -
Thanks man. And actually the amp is already screwed down in that pic lol, I just did it temporarily on that piece. I got some mdf left that I'm gonna use to set the amp up a couple different ways and see what I like best, then I'll make it look much nicer. And I already built it with the bracing, and actually, after I screwed them in, I could tell it was quite a bit more solid. So maybe unnecessary, but only cost a few bucks and probably helped at least a little. But I didn't include the big 45 on the bottom. Cutting the 45s was somewhat of a pita (my only tool is a circular saw), so as I was cutting all the pieces I was just like fuckit, I'll just leave it out and have a lower tuning. Now it's tuned to about 32.8 or so. I still think I might go back and cut that piece and mount it just to see how it sounds. Yeah I'm running the amp at 2 ohms, but I set the gains with a DMM to 300W. After I finished the box, I threw it in there and only got to listen for a couple minutes. I was fucking exhausted after 2 full days of work on this thing, plus I was excited and woke up too damn early each morning to work on it lol. But I'll take more time to listen and get more pics up this weekend or next (depending on how studying for finals goes.)

I would start by simplifying what drivers you have now. Why in the hell do you need that many tweeters?
-
You're all over the place man. Do you just want to know how to build a new box? If so, just ask for a box design, don't worry about that prefab.
-
Your mids are highs? wat And how do you run speakers off of speakers?
-
no its not dead, its in 100% perfect working order, but i dont even wanna use it till its done up cute. You best be trolling.

3 amps 2 rca sets.
LZTYBRN replied to Ddub847's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
What's wrong with splitters? You could use a line out converter from your head unit's speaker outputs. But y-splitters would probably be a better option. Edit: Almost forgot, most amps have RCA outputs on them... -
You can't just add the diameters together. If anything you'd add the AREAS together, but that'd only really work if the port lengths are the same length. Isn't the other one just a hole in the wood? If you want a temporary solution until you can build a new box, I'd start with covering up that hole. The woofer displacement is more likely closer to .1. The wood thickness is probably 5/8 (.625") or less. So just by covering the hole, and using the single 3" aero at 4.5" long, you would get a tuning of about 40hz (if my values are correct). You still won't have enough port area or volume, but I'd think it would sound a lot better. If you wanted to make your own slot port (don't know how you would even do that). I'm not sure, but I'm thinking like 15 sqin of port 17 inches long is the best you can do with that box. And it'd have to be coming out the side, so that it can be long enough. Also, if you can do 2 or more common port walls, that's even better.

^^^^ What they said. And fyi, if you're using circular aero ports, you don't use the height and width, you just use # of ports and the diameter. Where did you even get 7.6? I know that port ain't 7.6"

Question about the DD-1.
LZTYBRN replied to DudeWith4x4's topic in SMD Distortion Detector (DD-1) Topics
You're playing track 1 right? -
Well, I probably should get that, but I just moved to pretty much the middle of nowhere. So for someone to steal my stuff this time, they'd have to have the balls to come all the way up to my property, hop or cut the fence, break into my car which I park right by my bedroom window, and find a way to get it all out, all without making any noise. It's quiet as a bitch out here, and the slightest noise will wake you up. I'm not saying it can't happen, just unlikely.

Alright, well my first system got stolen about a year ago. Despite the advice given to me here, I used the cheapest equipment available, and had the box built in a way that made no sense, so I can't say I miss it that much. But I've learned a lot since then, and finally decided to start buying shit to put a system together. So here it is. Equipment list thus far: -94 Chevy Suburban -Alpine MRP-M500 -Skar IVX-15 -Cadence 4 gauge power and ground wire -Shok RCAs -PAC LC-1 -Cheap Dual head unit -Polk db461P 4x6 plates (in the dash) -Knu Fleks 1/0 for big three Here's the final design. (haven't built it yet so I suppose it is subject to change if I need to) The goods. Got my sticker stick'd. Gotta represent where I learned it all. And the suburban it's going in. Something to note here: Recently took off the chrome pieces around the wheel arches. COMPLETELY changed the look of the car, for the better of course. I'm SERIOUSLY impressed by the quality of this sub for only 100 bucks. Thanks Skar This pic doesn't really show much, but I thought it looked neat. Haha, I love my sister's camera. Amp installed under the middle row seat, mounted on a spare piece of broken furniture for now lol. That carpet is long overdue for a cleaning. Got this amp on CACO. It's in pretty damn good condition, just need to clean it up a bit and get the end caps. That's where it sits now. Like I said, I'm on a pretty tight budget. I'll get more pics up next week, but box build probably won't be for another few weeks.

If apple made it people would buy it lol, but seriously it is getting kind of stupid. What does the i stand for anyway? -
How does this box look? (IVX-15 on 300W)
LZTYBRN replied to LZTYBRN's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Cool, thanks. No it's 4x4. (0.5*4*4*16.5)/1728=0.076cuft. plus the displacement of the dowels. -

Interesting. Thanks -

Thank you very much. Is that generated from Torres or some other program? I'm not sure what you mean. What is the port end correction length? And my calculations were wrong. the new bracing displacement is .09, including the 45 and the 2 dowels. I changed the width to 40.5, which keeps the net volume and tuning to almost exactly the same. -

Hmmm yeah I did, I'll recheck everything soon as I get home. -

Haha thanks a lot. I've spent about a year reading around here and researching, but with no money to do my own build. And now I finally can. -

Thanks! Only reason I put that there was the spl gains thread. I know it won't give me that much but I figured I'd try to squeeze as much out of this as I can. And I did calculate the displacment of it, but looking at it now it looks a bit small. But do you think I should just get rid of it? And is there a reason that torres is consistently about .2 cuft. less than my own calculations of the net volume? -

I edited the original post with it. Why? Also forgot to mention this is going in the back of a suburban. -

Buuump. Redid the design. Main things I wanna know. Is that a good size considering the power, and do I need more bracing or another baffle?
