    You still need a stronger alternator. My suggestion is to wait until you get your new car and buy an alternator for that if you're not keeping this.

    Why don't you just wait until you get your new car then? You're going to need to upgrade your alternator or you're going to be damaging your equipment. I have a single 12" subwoofer powered at only 400 watts and i'm having severe voltage drops at full tilt.

    It's really nothing about class, its more of how much rms is the amp rated for. A Class D amplifier is more efficient compared to a Class A/B amplifier therefore you can get more power out using a Class D amplifier. With a Class D amplifier one run of 1/0 gauge wire may suffice but with a Class A/B amplifier you will definitely need two runs of 1/0 gauge.
