  1. It's worth it either way man, that amp is bad ass and just sell the subs to some nut huggers unless you want to keep them
  2. The SA-8's are rated for 400watts, they have a different motor than the other subs in the SA series. I would not put 2k on them I don't think, but maybe 1000-1200 if you just had to. And cvx was kidding when he said 2 8"s comes out to 16" of cone area, it's an inside joke! That isn't true in any way and that I not how you figure cone area, a 15" has reasonably more cone area than 2 8's... But on the plus side you have more motor force with the SA-8's and just a better sub. Personally I would do the 8's over the square subs for a lot of reasons, but really it's hard to say which would be louder, there are too many variables
  3. In the 30's is "low" man. Maybe it doesn't sound low on paper but it is and sounds good with a lot of different types of music. I'm tuned at 34hz and I bet my lows would be what you imagining
  4. A clipped woofer still makes a normal shaped soundwave if I'm not mistaken, it just recieves a squared input signal that heats up the coils. But sound is sound
  5. You sure 2 18s in 8 cubes. I don't think it could fit. I would go with 2 15 It depends on the 18's and 15's. On average 15's need close to 3.5 a piece but that varies. And I've seen tons of different size recommendations for different 18's, but a few have been as little as 4 cubes and some a lot more
  6. Gains were set bad! That's not a good way to set your gains what so ever! You're better off setting them by ear tbh
  7. Sounds like you should change your name to little-kid-wit-out-bass lol
  8. Yeah but th 15 will still work on whatever amp you have haha there is no harm in underpowering a sub... But okay man its your money. $60 isn't gunna get you anything real decent tho unless you get hella lucky
  9. I'm with the 2 people that said to use the 15... Seems a bit obvious lol
  10. Haha same here don't sing just smoke lol
  11. The easiest, fastest and most efficient way is to get a member on here (ram_designs for example) to design you a box. It costs a few dollars but is well worth it, especially for your first box. He will design it, do a model of it in sketch-up and then send you the screenshots with the exact dimensions and a cut sheet to match. I highly suggest doing this
  12. It just depends I would run either one, I guess in your case I would go with the obsidian for the price point. The obsidians just murder the lows and they look awesome! You would really love them
  13. Obsidian and sundown are built in the same warehouse and Jacob (owner of sundown is part owner of obsidian, nick (owner of stereo integrity) is the other part owner of obsidian and the desIgner of the obsidian sub. There are a couple reasons why sundown is more popular first it is a much older company, obsidian barely came out this year, second sundown is advertised and sold by dealers. Obsidian was made mainly for us forum goers and is only advertised on the net. Both subs are great go the price, I have both, but you would definitely not be disappointed in the obsidians at all and I would probably take them over all other subs mentioned in this thread
  14. Look into obsidian audio, they are amazing subs for the price and are like sundown in the way they are rated. But if you still want sundown then go on caco and get a couple reconed sundowns from electrodynamic (nick) they are as good as new and a great price.
  15. You just like to down me every chance you get huh? WTF is wrong with my suggestion ??? Name 1 thing First of all audiopipe amps are not very good, they are very dirty power. Second of all these subs need closer to 1k wrms a piece, not on the pair. Third of all YOU Dont need to be suggesting things!!!!! I'm not trying to be rude man but like really, if you don't know then don't help other people have a bad system. And audiopipe 1300 would not even be an upgrade from the amp that he has right now to be honest! I would suggest 1400-2000 for two SA-12's and if you can afford a pair of subs then I would suggest going with just one sub but with the most cone area possible, like a 15 or 18, whatever you can fit. SA doesn't have an 18 but there are other brands too. I would checkout obsidian audio. Seems like a good choice for your application
  16. If it's going in the bed then How would cvx's design help? Are not going to do some kind of blow through? Maybe a 4th order?
  17. You may get lucky and find a used crescendo bc2k for close to 300
  18. Don't hook up with fat chicks, but be their friends cause they always have hot friends
  19. Sundowns E line is hopefully coming out soon! They will be lower powered driver for a very good price and I feel like 500watts would do just great on them! I would probably wait for that line in your situation
  20. Is that 1ft^3 for both? Yeah it's for both, subs up port out the side
  21. Awesome! I just did a box for 2 RF xlc 8's and I liked the way it sounded. It was 1.05ft^3 with about 18in^2 port @ 34hz. I'd put up a pic but I'm on my phone
  22. He has prices on his site, but it's a very good deal, like $15-20 or so for a normal design and a complete sketch-up blueprint and cut sheet. I've used him on a few boxes I've built and they have sounded great
