  1. if you look at two difference sized circles on top of one another, you will see that they touch at the bottom and quickly separate. so to get an acceptable contact area you need to be extremely accurate on the size of the insert. give it a shot, little projects are always fun. yea, I'm going to start inn the new ones tomorrow. Wish me luck, I'll post pics of the process
  2. that's a great idea. Probably make some like that tomarow if I have time.
  3. That was deffinitly somthing I overlooked. Luckily I made the side that gose to the amp on each one I made slightly oversized so I could grind it down to get a good fit. I probably have enough material there to round it out. Hopefully I can save these. If not, they only took about 30 minuets to make. I can make more.
  4. All they really do is change how it looks. Some tips do change the sound, but it will usually be stated if they do
  5. Well I got fed up with having to trim wire to make it fit in my amp(actualy I just was bored and wanted somthing to do), so I made some 1/0 to 4 gauge reducers out of some aluminum. Made these on a manually operated milling machine. Il post some higher resolution pictures later.
  6. At $1.70 a foot, it's not the cheapest. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX4BL And this isn't cca
  7. That port looks really small. I would stick with a minimum of 14 square inches of port area per cubic foot.
  8. Looks cool, but sadly I think that most well mad 15" subs would have more output. Very little motor force and massive amounts of cone flex.
  9. Psi could recone it, but it wont be the same sub at all. They would use their own baskets and soft parts for it meaning no more square. That's the only way I could think of it getting done. Or you could send it to kicker for repair that will cost you almost as much as the sub its self.
  10. I didnt feel a thing. It's kind of funny beside I have lived in California my whole life and have never knowingly felt an earthquake.
  11. Been thinking and Ive decided that I am going to redo the system. Hows 2 15" fi sp4's on 2 aq2200's sound? probably will be a few months before it happens though.
  12. Not a good deal. I would never trade for that thing. That beetle would get at the most 3k and that's saying it is in damn good condition. That year was not the most desirable. You would be better off selling the Hyundai than making the trade.
  13. Iv heard they can have issues withspiders tearing, but on their sight it says to break them in. I don't think its a common problem but I'm just throwing it out there. But almost every audio que system I have heard sounded amazing so they are good subs
  14. I built the crossover. Of the shelf crossovers are pretty much useless because they have to be built by the specs of the driver you are using. It's alleyways better to build your own if you can.
  15. they sound great! Probably the best you can get in their price range. They can compete with some really high end stuff.
  16. Forgot to add what speakers I'm using. The mods are 4" Dayton audio reference series. And the tweeter is a Dayton audio 1 1/8 silk dome series. An amazing tweeter for the money.
  17. Just testing out the cross over in the center channel I'm building for my home theater system. Well, actually more of an hd test for my camera. Tell me what you guys think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpH2FanQjN8
  18. It's better to change the over all speed of the track. Just changing the pitch in audacity makes everything sound weird
  19. Looks great. I was Going to go there, but I caught the flu recently. At least there are some good pics here!
  20. 3 pronged resistor????? Do you mean the transistors?
