I'm confused, did you say you KNOW it's not the amp because you have the same amp in your truck and the subs cut off? Maybe you wrote it wrong or my English is failing, but isnt that a contradiction? Also, as previously said, you can only wire 2 Dual 4 ohm subs to a final load or 1 ohm or 4 ohms, no other way, I promise.

I bought a Fosgate T400-4 from him and it was packaged and shipped in a very timely manner. It also had my front and rear components sounding AMAZING. Would definitely do business with him again.

It depends on what year the block was produced in reference to how much you can take off before you start getting close to the cooling jackets. The mid 70's pickup truck engine blocks had a LOT OF meat on them and they can be punched .060 over all day long. A newer 454 SS type motor, NO WAY would I trust it. There is my $.02

Bad grounds, bad voltage, clipped signal, to name a few. More details of your setup, as previously mentioned, will be needed to help you figure out your problem. Also, the reason I brought up the batteries was because of this: Please do NOT run a lead acid battery in the interior of a vehicle. They vent deadly gas and fumes, and are not safe in the cabin of a vehicle. I don't want you dead because of a little toxic gas.

Have patience and put some time in reading around here. You'll find the info you want and need with time, I can promise you that.

Also, did you mention which batteries you were running?

When I list off equipment I have installed in my vehicle, I know exactly what I'm talking about, down to model numbers. It wasn't so much calling you out, but trying to get you to clarify if you had the alt currently installed or not.

Dude, you're CLEARLY young and have a lot to learn. We see new guys come onto this forum daily and weekly with ideas like yours. No matter how much good advice gets thrown their way, they don't take it. INSTEAD, they do it their way. Then they realize that they maybe didn't know it all once they've built something that didn't work. THEN they come back here to ask questions about what it is they did wrong. They are told MANY times by several knowledgeable guys what was wrong and they still don't take THAT advice. You'll have to excuse me if I come off a little short, or a little "pissy" but guys come on here all the time with a pipe dream to run some MONSTER sub in their trunk, regardless of whether or not it's an ideal environment or not. 18s are fun and all, but 12s can do the same job or better in an optimal enclosure. I'm not sure How many systems you have done before, and I don't know your skills or knowledge. My guess is, if you are here asking questions, you are still learning, as we all are. If you wanted to give more feedback as to WHY you want an 18" I'm your trunk, maybe someone will help you. No one can help without you providing basic info like, box size, tuning, electrical upgrades on car, YOUR knowledge, and what your ultimate goal for the system is.

No one will be able to tell you what the loudest/best setup is for your car as there are FAR too many variables. You will only get so much output from that single 12. Ported, anywhere from 34-38 will sound best on music. If you want the MOST bang, make it ported and sub facing INTO the cabin, and completely seal it off from the trunk. There's spray foam at Home Depot and Lowes called Great Stuff, and that would help fill the gaps for you. The loudest you will get with one 12" will be this way I imagine.

Look into Hifonics BRZ line, NOT HFi lines, they are affordable. Stay away from Audiopoop, they are turds. I think you're going about building your system completely wrong though. You're clearly stubborn, and are gonna run an 18" sub in the trunk, be damned the consequences. I'm assuming you won't be upgrading your front stage right? Stock mids and highs and if you DO upgrade they will be receiving power from a headunit right? I'm done with this thread, as I'm sure any useful advice given will be disregarded. Good luck with your build, I hope your trunk forgives you for what you plan on doing to it.

This is not a Vs. thread..... As previouslty stated, just extend the cables a bit longer to reach the other side of the battery terminals.

I didn't think you would know the specs of the box. I can't believe that it does't rattle to all hell either. Firing a monster sub at a trunk lid can't sound that great. Also, I would think there would be loading/unloading issues with having a sub so close to the trunk lid.
