Box for 2 HDC3 15's on 2 AQ2200's strapped
Cutdeluxes1 replied to Cutdeluxes1's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Cutdeluxes1 what sort of bracing are you doing that will take 1.5 cubic feet?? also if you are doing 1.5" wood all around why you have it set to 0.75?? That number for the bracing is what torres all ready had in it. I used .75 to get the outer dimensions of the box, and them Im going to re-inforce the outside of it with .75 wood. So my air space and stuff wont change, just have to keep it in mind for the port length. atleast that is what i figured. -

ok, that puts my tunning at 40.06hz, port area at 162.75 with 18.04in2 fer foot and net volume at 9.02 with 21 inches of height. or... Tunning at 38.66,same port area but with 16.79in2 at 9.69 net volume... which one is better? -

I was planning on doing double, but couldnt get the numbers I wanted with the limits in outer dimensions. all of these scales are with .75 instead of 1.5 for wood thickness. the box will be attached to a false floor, and is also double baffled so that gives me top and bottom. then I was going to add a piece to the port face and rear, and brace from left to right. -

Box for 2 HDC3 15's on 2 AQ2200's strapped

I think I got it. with .25 displacement and some port changes I have ideal numbers except for port area (which is 152in2). net is at 8.81, 17.25 cubes per foot, tuned at 38. Dimensions are 21x48x28, port is 8x19x18. -

Well from the website, the box should gross 9.00ft3, with 144ft3 of port area at 18 inches long. The FS for them is 38 hz. Ive taking everything into consideration except woofer displacement. Cant find what it would be for 2 15's. since it will change the tuning and port area, should I aim for prime specs, are tune low and let the displacement put me in the ideal tuning? So far I came up with this: HxWxD 21x48x21 Port:6x18x18 which puts me at GV of 10.23ft3, PA per foot-17.03in2, tuned to 39.38HZ, but only 108in2 of port area. suggestions? -

Those number came straight off torres. Would do a screen shot but can't figure out how. Very heavy is ok to me, means no one will take it! I figured strapped would be better for single chamber. Just want to make sure that im not choking the subs or to much airspace due to the amount of power Im putting to them. -
Box is going in 2001 tahoe. I think its to big for the amount of power, but would work if I used a aq2000 on each instead of strapped. its an option, and havent figured out of I want to strap or not. any input is appreciated. H:30 W:41 D:28 Port H: 5 W:38 L: 32 1 extra baffle wood thickness : 1.5 TF-37.99hz Net Volume 7.73 ft3 port area- 190.in2 gross volume-14.84ft3 port volume-4.72ft3

I can Say having the port back is the way to go if you looking for deep rich bass. I have a AQ HDC3 15 and have tried many configurations( Except sub up-port back). sub up-port up is loud in the driver seat cause you can here the bass from the face of the sub and the port, but port back moves more air, is not as loud in the driver's seat, but produces a deeper more felt bass. Mines in a tahoe so it has the hatch back too. From the looks of things, I would make the box taller slighty and wider and less deeper if going port back. You want a minimum of 4-7 inches of clearance from the port to the hatchback. or scale down and built a optimum box for one 15 if running out of space for two. IMO

When and how can i purchase one? -
Imcurrently build my front stage out of all focals and I love them. The VB's are loud and clean, but focals dont take alot of power. if i remember correctly max on a set is like 100watts.But they can take more, but dont need alot of power to get loud. I had memphis 6.5s before and replaced them with the vb cause they were way louder. The Vr's are good too, if on a budget. But I suggest the VB's all day, I plan on running 4 sets, and have two now.

Skar Audio/Crescendo Jeep Build
Cutdeluxes1 replied to stilltippin863's topic in SKAR AUDIO - (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)
What year is the jeep? I just bought a 2004 limited last week and using your build as a "blueprint" of what i can do to it! Well it will be the wifes car so nothing as serious as yours (yet) -
Lay of the gas pedal!! I have a tahoe( Same year as steve) with the 5.3 in it. I have a K&N CAI, Flowmaster exhaust, and a flashpaq tuner currently tuned to perfermance. it has a gas saver setting but you will definitely lose performance. Honestly if you want better gas mileage, up the horsepower so the engine doesnt work as hard to push the truck. On another forum ther are guys who have put the 6.0's in with a supercharger( near future) and are averaging 24 mpg. but the cheapest way would be- CAI, full exhaust, and a custom tune by blackbear performance. they specialize in chevy trucks and cars and can tune the hell out of your truck. But if you go that route its best to have all your performance parts on before the tune. Check them out. I also have a 98 chevy silverado thats good on gas cause i did the mentioned steps above.
