  1. I'm interested in this because a friend of mine is having the same problem so OP let us know when it gets fixed
  2. I've heard of people using sound deadener in their garages or workshops so it is more quiet outside
  3. Summed up everything into one post ftw They guys at mechman know their shit. That's why i bought my alternator from them and they are gonna continue to get my business for wire and batteries now
  4. So i got in the car today and started it up and no squeeling. I think it is because it is like 30 degrees here now... Does that mean my belt could be bad?
  5. Have you run them? I was interested in this amp because I'm a little short on space
  6. i don't think the pulley is smaller sorry for the bad pic...via phone obviously left is old and right is new
  7. I was gonna try what you had suggested. I'll just have to do it tomorrow. thanks for the advice to man and i hope to god that is all that it is
  8. Post it in the audiosavings section would be good so they can see it also but if it functions fine why get it fixed?
  9. Well im like 90% sure the belt isn't slipping. Like i said i had my friend watch while i rev it up and it didn't slip at all even when i redlined and i had him floor it while i looked and nothing was slipping
  10. so take the belt off and run a piece of white yarn along either the inside or outside of all the pulleys and eyeball it that way? and any ideas on the dimming of the lights. I know the voltage isn't bad it is about 14.6 when i am going down the road
  11. belt and idler were replaced like 6 months ago but the idler as far as i know may be stock....
  12. if all the ribs are on all the pulleys, then it's fine. just make sure the belt isnt hanging over the edge of a pulley Ok well I am new to this but not a total dumb ass. lol I wouldn't have left it if there was half the belt hanging off. I took the alt off atleast 10 times trying to get it lined up best i could
  13. Is there a good trick to see if the belt is lined up? I just eyeballed it the best I could to install it.
  14. So possibly not all the pulleys being lined up will make a squeeling too?
  15. So i failed to get any pics. There isn't enough room to get a pic of the pulley. I can get a really good pic of just the case but I don't think that will help you guys help me at all lol
  16. The belt has a full 180 wrap on the alternator. it isn't slipping at all. I had my friend stand and watch the belt while i revved the engine and it didn't slip even at redline and i read somewhere that if the belt is too tight that it will cause the idle pulley to squeel
  17. Ok so i have installed my new 220 amp mechman alt on my 01 eclipse. I had a few problems. The belt squeels on start and when the alt is under a big load. I think this is just from by belt being too tight but I am open to hear other suggestions. Now the bigger problem for me is that when i hammer down on the gas and the rpms are around 4500 or 5000 the lights dim in the interior and the battery and e brake light comes on... any ideas on that?
  18. Sorry for your loss man, Stay strong. Cancer is a terrible disease and atleast your father went with you all around him. He's in a better place now
