the 360.2 is way better, the only real benifit you could have is that you would be getting a cleaner signal to your processor depending on the current h/u you have and the quality of the signal it puts out. if your using the 360.2 with it then the h/u's eq and crossovers most likely wont even be noticable by ear. if you want to not use the 360.2 then yes you can run an active setup if you set it up like that. for just a h/u the 80prs is amazing. i have only heard good things about the sq it puts out compared to other brands around that price range.

Sound Deadening help Please
alaskanzx5 replied to viper1315's topic in Second Skin Sound Deadening and Automotive Insulation!
deadener is just for rattles but also helps a lot with sound quality. put some on your front doors and the front half of your roof and you will hear the difference. -
Sound Deadening help Please
alaskanzx5 replied to viper1315's topic in Second Skin Sound Deadening and Automotive Insulation!
if there are hard to get corners use a heat gun besides that i would worry about that to much. but yeah if you only have 20sqft right now do the trunk lid and then listen for more rattles in the trunk and try to pin point all the bad rattles first. -

Sound Deadening help Please
alaskanzx5 replied to viper1315's topic in Second Skin Sound Deadening and Automotive Insulation!
good spots to start at are front doors, trunk, roof, rear doors. then from there you can start doing the pillars and tear the car apart to do the floor. i noticed a big difference in the front sound stage when i did the front doors and the front half of the roof. dont know what kinda car you have but i also used great stuff foam from walmart in the hatch door to add some weight and strenght to it along with sound deadener and it made a great difference. i always suggest the front doors and roof because it help with the sound stage and then the trunk because it does help with the sq from the subs and knocks down a good amount of rattle on the inside and outside of the car. -
thanks for the vid steve. maybe the some of the haters will stop hating, lol. i noticed in the vid ( before you explained it ) that the vm-1 would drop to the mid 12s while the x brand meter would only drop to about 13.7-13.9. i will need one of your volt meters for sure.wouldnt mind having 2 of them to be honest.

I Will never again own a black car. That color is great but also my worst nightmare at the same time. Nooooo thanks! black paint is a pain to take care o,. any darker paints are horrible to take care of. although i like glossy black paint on cars and my next car if i can manage to get the car i want will be black.

I wouldn't worry about getting a deck made more for sq if your gonna use the 3 sixty. The processor will make such a huge difference I doubt you would find or hear a difference in sound with the deh 80 prs

might want to make sure he understand that port to. you put only 1 common wall when most people know slot ports as a port that goes from 1 side of the box to the other an is an L in shape.

need a hair trick in my xcab
alaskanzx5 replied to Jordan Guess's topic in SPL - SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL
well, hair tricks dont mean its loud, neither does moving air.with those measurements im guessing you want it behind the front seats but below the back window as you said. that might be an issue with moving air as the port has to have room to breath and only 10 of depth the sub(s) would have to be facing the back wall of the truck or the back of the seats which could hurt but im no expert so i cant say for sure. ive seen videos of 2 12s doing hair trick along with single 18s. the trick is more of low tuning and sub(s) with higher xmax. the sub has to be able to flex back and forth a good amount to getthat air moving and with that you need a fairly big port meaning a bigger box in return. im not saying you cant do it with the dimensions you have or with the power but it wont be easy. -
when buying it from xs power and shipping from there to hear there is only one shipping fee and the batteries are only paid for once. yes a shop will pay the shipping and dont realy charge for the shipping from all the shops i have seen. shops will also be able to ship large amounts of the batteries at a cheaper price by far. then the shop will pay ( and im just guessing here ) 40-60% less per battery then the average consumer would. meaning if they paid 250 for a battery and paid 200 to ship it and sold it for 600 thats still profit but the shop wont pay 200 in shipping a single battery they will buy 5-10 of several different sizes of battery then have it shipped up by freight and get a great price to ship 5-10 times the amount of batteries. shipping a car from alaska to washington avarages about 750-1000 if i remember right but to buy a conex and load it with 2-3 cars will cost 1500-2000 to ship meaning that 3rd car is free shipping or better yet the 3rd car is free and the 2nd car is half priced. shops can make bigger orders and get the product at a much cheaper price and ship for less then the consumer so even selling at msrp is profit. the amount of profit per may not be a whole lot but not all shops go for big profit off of 1 or 2 purchases but instead go for large profit off of 8-9 purchases. a local shop here has to sell x amount of rockfod subs in order to get them at the price they do and so in turn they do a buy 1 get 1 free sale once a year where they make their money.

This x100000 The murder of the written language coupled with what I believe to be his logic gave me super aids. i dont understand his logic... from what i was reading he disagrees with the customer trying to get local shops to carry xs power and that xs power and the local shops should be the ones to take care of it but then he goes and likes my post that says it well worth it just to save on shipping alone?? doesnt make much sense to me.

Happy Birthday Steve!!!
alaskanzx5 replied to SnowDrifter's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
walker with custom door panels? thats it? and i thought you did everything big. i figured an electric wheel chair with 3 d3100 500 watts ran to a single 10 and a set of componets running on a 200 watt 4 channel with a rockford sound processor and an ipad. happy birthday man, hope you have a great one. -
It costs over $200 just in shipping to ship a D3100 to Alaska FedEx or UPS. A shop carrying XS Power could save you a ton in shipping. I don't think people realize the cost of shipping to a lot of places in the lower 48 much less to Alaska and overseas. i was thinking closer to 70-80 a batts but 200!?!? if i got 3-4 of them that 600-800 in shipping. saving that alone is my front sound stage completed wires, amp, speakers, rca's, faberglassing my doors and everything. that alone is a great reason to get xs power up here. hell their are people with some big builds up here that would be more then happy to buy 6-10 of them but to ship 10 of them would be 2000 in shipping alone they would save on. hell they could buy 6 and save 1200 in shipping and that would pay for another 2-3 batts.

kenyel, just to let you know the shops up here dont charge for the shipping they just bite the bullet on it unless its a specail order in which sometimes they will have it shipped with their next shipment and not charge you or charge you all depending on how good of a customer you are. i have ordered a hat and shirt from rockford and got free shipping through a dealer here. they have also handed rockford wiring that was laying around because it was just scraps from other installs they do along with a couple free fuse holders and have sold some stuff to me at less then msrp just because im a frequent customer. the benifit of getting xs power in a shop here in alaska is no shipping. that alone will save me a few hundred bucks and if all i have to do is chip in $300-400 to go towards the buy in cost and walk away from it with an xspower battery without having to pay shipping then so be it. im sure that since i would play a part in helping the shop/dealer to start carrying the battery that i could even get a slightly lower price then msrp. in the end if i buy 3-4 batts and not have to pay the shipping i can save well over $200 maybe even as much as $400 and the chance of getting a slightly better price then msrp i would have saved enough to buy a better amp or even to finish my soundstage or sound deadening...ect ect...

did you have the 26"s before the lowering kit? could be a combination of things. lowering a car or truck could make it a little more of a rough ride along with adding bigger wheels. then better bushing will help take care of some of the vibrations maybe even the engine and trany mounts so that you get less vibration from those. make sure the wheels and tires are balanced and the air is good in all of them. with such a big set of wheels and lowering the truck the slightest thing can make some of the biggest change in vibrations.

the difference between shitty paint jobs and good paint jobs is prep work, the difference between good paint jobs and fantastic paint jobs is a lot of prep work with high quality paint. like they suggested, wet sand it bring it to them and have them spray the color on, wet sand it smooth agian and then have them do the clear coat. if you have freinds with the equipment and place to do it for the same cost for the cheap maaco paint job you can get some better quality paint then maaco would use and do it all yourself. start with a door then the other doors and the hood and trunk lid then the body of the car. doing the smaller parts first will allow you to get the right movement down with wasting less paint as you practice. i would rather do it myself if i was you seeing as to how you would be doing the majority of the work yourself already anyways, the painting part of it isnt even 1/4 the work.
