  1. Usually as the impedance level of the load on the amplifier rises , the more dampening factor it will have. So yes 4 ohm theoretically should sound better then the driver wired down lower. However if you just want it loud.... your probably not going to hear the difference.
  2. No. It would be like running your computer processor without a heatsink and a fan blowing at it. The Fets will get toasty real quick without having the casing (heatsink) to dissipate all the heat.
  3. I am selling my 12" fully loaded BTL, (old style) . Most of the SoCal guys can vouch that I have this sub and it does some damage! Anyways I am getting out of the SPL scene and buying a new car to compete in SQ! I would like 315$ shipped for it. Here are some picture, Both coils are the same, its just that the o-scope and the fluke kinda fluctuate about .1ohm.
  4. http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?24&cat=7 . probably the only line output converter I would consider just because of david navone lol. ( if you guys have never heard of him or richard clark, you better do some serious reading up) .
  5. Goal is to have all the speakers as close to equal distance from your ears. That why kick panel locations are so popular, A pillars are very popular because they bring the stage up high, but you will need to use signal ("time") delay to even out the path length because now the drivers side tweeter will be a foot away from your head while the passengers side will be a few feet away. Best way to find out is to try out a few different spots , try the sail panels , top of dash or a pillars... kick panels is where i had my mids and tweets and it worked out great.
  6. Hook up an mp3 player directly to the amps, is there any noise? Remove the second battery from the charging system and use it to power up the amps (just for testing), does the noise go away once they are being powered by the battery alone and not being grounded through the chassis? Unplug the speaker wires from the amp, and just run a short wire from the amp to a random speaker, does it still have the same noise issue? The only way to find the source is the issue is to logically go step by step through the signal chain and see where the weak link is. post pics... post vid with noise.. I understand how frustrated you must be, hang in there bro!
  7. hahaha thats pretty funny. Who is he? Just some random guy?
  8. give us some pictures of the internals , im sure someone will chime in.
  9. higher the voltage output of your deck = better dynamics + less noise from turning input sensitivity up on the amps. So yes, higher voltage is better.
  10. I have a 18v dewalt set that includes a drill , reciprocating saw , circular saw and flashlight. The circular saw is sooo convenient and lasts a long time, its a great tool! I mainly use it to cut 1/2" mdf for beauty panels , but it handles 3/4" just fine.
  11. nice video, i like how all the guys are so chill and cant get enough of the beat , its kind of like when a bunch of guys gather around a random TV at the mall to check the score of a football game and want to keep watching as long as they can before their wives / girlfriends drag em away.
  12. used 880 prs . i have one for sale PM me for details, but for around that price new try looking at some of clarions usb decks
  13. local plastics company for me , if not select product has some on their site.
  14. movie was amazing , if you liked old school you will love this .

  16. I have a Dual 1 Fully loaded original style BTL if you are interested, asking 300 + shipping OBO!
  17. James nice to see you here, I cant wait to take another listen to your car at the show Saturday.
  18. what is your goal? plan on doing sq? For the price you have alot of options.. if you are serious about sq, i would shop around a little bit before droppin 1400$ on a set of speakers having NO idea why they cost that much.
  19. Say your sub has no sub sonic filter or low pass, it would be receiving signals from 1hz - 20khz. Signals that are way to low for the sub to play making the sub bottom out (in certain situations, mainly if your getting loud and not too worried about those low notes needed in SQ applications) , and frequencies that are too high that also make it work harder then it should and also sound terrible. So the idea is, the subsonic filter will stop the lower frequencies from playing, on your amp you can change this anywhere from 20-50hz. The low pass is to keep all the higher frequencies out (in most cases people set them around 80hz) so the idea is the sub only plays frequencies from 80hz down to whatever you set your subsonic at (in your case anywhere from 20-50hz. The gain should be set to match the maximum unclipped voltage output of your source and then left alone, you can then change the level of the sub using a bass knob or your source unit. The idea is that you dont want the amp to send out a clipped signal (looks like a sine wave with the tops and bottoms "clipped" off) to your speakers / subs. Set it once correctly , you can use a voltage meter instead of an oscilloscope if you dont have access to one, from my experience using the voltage chart and the oscilloscope are usually pretty similar in terms of voltage output before clipping.
  20. why a new alarm? just order a transmitter and reprogram it so the old ones dont work anymore. I dont know what you could do now that they have your keys.... new door locks / ignition is going to be expensive. Just take your stereo out ..along with the distributor cap. lol
  21. head unit is very important . there is a reason people spend lots of money on getting good ones. In the SPL world , its more important to find one that does not skip and has features that are easy to use in the lanes. Edit - Yes it will sound better , a 1000$ deck and a 100$ deck will sound very different as long as you have a setup that allows for those differences to be heard .
