  4. $250 EA for a pair of DC Audio Level 4 15's. http://www.dcsoundlab.com/level4.html
  5. I have heard the cheaper model 10's and they sounded real good and clean on about 250w ea. The 2xl 15d's I recently got sound good to me on a HF Bxi 1205D. I hope they do better on a AQ2200D i just got....but lemme tell ya something..Ya might as well say I paid $500 for the pair..after studying the PB website, I found that they are designed for a sealed box....but can be used in a very large ported one. (5 cubes/sub) I was told they can handle 3000w daily for the pair in a ported box by my dealer. Study this website..and others. Dont make hasty decisions like I have. Mr DJ...thanks for the lengthy fone conversation...Mr Rusty....man, I have your number and I kick myself for not doing the lvl 4 deal.
  6. I appreciate the honesty, accordman.
  7. Thanks, I was wondering what others around thought about that break-in stuff. I take it you have been around powerbass? I actually paid the pb dealer upfront for a box to be built for 4 memphis twelves. after a week of being put on the back burner, he saw me eying the pb 15's.. (they are handsome devils, I had my mind set on a future higher power 3000w+ sub system) We talked it up and I ended up swapping 4 pr 12's and the box money ($250) for the pb's. Yall flame me if i need it. I bought em 5 days ago, installed em , listened to em for 30 minutes and been at work since.
  8. Thanks..I guess that's what I wanted to see. Anyone here using or know anything about the Powerbass 2xl 15? Mine are rated for 1000w peak and the local dealer I bought them from claims the pair can handle 3000w.
  9. Thats what the manual said too. I was just curious if other companies have similar recommendations.
  10. I bought 2 Powerbass 2XL 15's last week. The little booklet that came with them recommended not applying more than 1/3 power to them for the first 40 hrs of use. Is this a common break-in period? I have not heard of this "1/3 power" rule before. At $200 ea. it raises the big question..WTF?? On the 1200d, they sound sweet. I try not to turn up the volume..but there is so much more bass than I was getting out of 2 12's...I slipped the hu up to 45 once and shit started to vibrate all over my dash and my suburban has more rattles than I knew could possibly exist.( Time for fat mat, lol)
  11. Thanks...I know the Colossus needs a 300a fuse. In all honesty, I do not know if this would be stretching my factory alt beyond its limits ( I do not know the rating on my alt..'02 Suburban 5.3L). I will have 1/0 ran to the back to a HC 2000 batt. + my mid/high amp requires a 60 amp fuse. Nismo, what kind of Alt do you run?

I got a price quote on 2 DC Lvl 4 15's today..I plan on using those. I have also been eying the Colossus..I noticed you run that very setup. any probs out of the Colossus?. I was wondering if your subs share the same air and how you set your gains..or does the colossus only have one gain? I want the Colossus, but would go with the gp 3000d pro or 2 sundown 1500d as a last option.

why sell the dc lvl 4's?..They wont handle 3000 ea. ?
  15. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=2143 I just bought 2 of these last wk. Of the ones you suggested, This is the best one IMO. + free shipping helps. I ordered on Monday and they were at my door on friday. I run 2 right now on a HF BXI 1205D. you need 2^3 min ea. tuned to @ 40 hz and you will be surprised, no doubt.
  16. Sounds like you put extra effort in making the customer satisfied..
  17. I am going to contact him and see what we can do. I have noticed alot of ppl here are like myself. You start comparing prices, sizes, etc. We get really wishy washy lol. Lets turn this into an opinion chaser...4 Memphis 12's (2 are 3 wks old, the other 2 are still in the box..been offered what I got in them) or 2 AQ HDC 15's? (if they get some in soon like I hear) If 2 15's, AQ 2200 or Crunch gp 3000d pro?
  18. I envy you guys that have the skill, resources and the time to construct your own sub boxes(I cant cut a straight line, lol). I have been shopping and comparing online til my head hurts. Well, I finally had a day off work to go out and visit a local "High End" install shop. I was curious as to what it would cost to have a rectangle shaped slot ported box built for the back of my suburban...4 12" cut-outs,11 cubes, and slot ported along the bottom edge. I feel this would be a rather simple box, especially since all they had to do was follow my dimensions. The salesman talked me into listening to his head installer's car ( 2 RE SE 12's in a ported box w/ 1500watts) It sounded ok..I did not hear anything above and beyond my 2 Memphis PR 12's in a ported box on 900 watts. The sales man asks: whaddya think? My reply: Makes me wanna hear a couple of SE 15's!.. he says: you dont need them. He takes me inside, wasting my time trying to sell me a couple of RE 12's at 2.5 times what I can get them online and finally I say: Hey, about my reason for stopping by, how much to build that box? He replies: $800. I say: Fiberglass?..I just wanted 3/4 mdf properly braced. He says: MDF, How much do you think its worth? I say: $250 to $300..He says: My installers time is worth alot more than that. Was he blowing me off, cuz I didnt care for RE or JL stuff in my ride? or ppl really charge that much for a speaker box??
