  1. My batteries are a re-branded Northstar sold under the Motomaster brand name at Canadian Tire stores up here in Canuckistan they even add an extra year to the warranty for 5 years of coverage. They have two CCA ratings, the regular one at 0F and another at -20f which was the biggest selling point for me. Having approx. 1500 amps of cold cranking current on tap in this kind of weather we are experiencing is very re-assuring that the little 3.0L in my truck will spin over with ease, even if spends the night outside. Not really worried about them freezing but i have briefly given the battery blanket idea some thought, but i park underground in an unheated underground (but easily 10-20c above outside ambient) garage and do not have access to a plug in for such a thing. I do not know anyone personally but i've heard of folks knocking out another frost plug and running two block heaters.
  2. Thank you Alex for dropping some knowledge here, it is seriously appreciated ☺️? I'll be honest, i haven't bothered to check the VM-1 after i've been running for awhile, just want to GTFO when i get home after being out and about for a while. Luckily it's only supposed to get up to a balmy high of -29c here in the city today and i've got some running around to do so i will report beck with an image of a "hot" voltage after it's been running for an hour or two. I've got a Fluke 325 dc clamp meter i'm curious what kind of draw my system creates with these conditions, i'll throw it on for giggles and shits too.
  3. Took this picture the other day when the temperature was around the -30 Celsius (around -20f i think) neighborhood. Supposed to be in that temperature range for the next few days until the new year. I'd like to hear some thoughts on this from anyone in the Mechman crew. This is the voltage as seen at my 2K inputs at idle (725-ish rpm) with a cold engine, system isn't running in this image, gotta let everything warm up in the cab of the truck for 10-15 minutes before i let it wang. It will spike briefly into the 15.5- 15.8v range for maybe a 1/4 second (just a quick red blink on the VM-1) when i listening to tunes at 2/3-3/4 volume and above. My 2k hasn't had any high voltage protection issue's (supposed to engage at 15.5v give or take 0.2-0.3v AFAIK) but i'm curious if anyone else has this (non?) issue? Not sure if this will have a long term negative effect on my three NSB AGM batteries?
  4. A pain in the neck never felt so good though! Agreed, please post more.
  5. Quick DD-1 question, does tuning with the vehicle running have any affect on potential distortion while playing back with the vehicle off?

The difference might be Negligible but i figured i ask for curiosity sake

car off so your more less taking voltage drop into consideration

      Thank you both.

I was doing it with a battery charger on ( don’t want to gas myself in the folks garage) but i’ll take it off and check the difference.

Had both amps tuned with the -5 tracks respectively (40hz on the SCV-2000D and 1khz on the SAX-100.4) but i found the coax’s where a little loud for my taste.

gonna use the -10 on the 2k and the -0 on the 100.4 and see how i like it

  6. SMD technology FTW! Wait what? LOL Impressed by the 1 ohm test, wonder how long it would hold up at that load? edit - You mentioned it making some noise, what would be doing that?
  7. Not knocking the design at all Steve (how could i?) it's an awesome looking enclosure! Just a thought, from a material usage standpoint. I would have done the bottom/port with the layered design then done the walls with rabbet joints & regular pieces of MDF. Again, just putting my 0.02 in, love the box regardless
  8. I see it is rated for 200w but what kind of power was it being given in the video?
  9. Agreed, this is from my EQS manual, LOL Pure F#@&% Magic!
  10. I like the look of it, and dem guts 1410w is my guess Wondering about that MILC would that be testable against the DD-1 or is even the same thing? Thanks for the pictures Steve.
  11. I agree completely, just thinking of the saying about common sense If i needed one of these i'd just dip the amp side 1/2 way into plasti dip a few times to make my own slip on/offcover.
  12. Great idea for those who need this for the convenience, if i may offer an idea/opinion though is there a cover for the quick connector to cover the contacts to prevent accidental short on the amp side?
  13. How are you going from ipad to three.2? 3.5mm to RCA? Just work your way back from the source checking rca outs along the way for distortion. Thats how i did it with my istreamer and matrix+ in my set up.
  14. In your case just substitute the 2's with 1's I found this on this magical thing i use to search the internet called GOOGLE
  15. I'd probably use the -5db track on the dd-1 i have to set the gain for it if this setup actually happens. Gonna do seperate chambers in a shared enclosure. I'm just running Alpine type R 6X8's on a sundown 50.4 in the four factory spots, planning on swapping them out for Sundown 6.5 coax's and powering them with a 100.4 and an audiocontrol eqs to tune.
  16. Gonna ask here instead of starting another thread as it's along the same lines as OP Wondering how two dual 2 ohm 12's on my scv-2000 amp @ 2 ohms would sound. Not looking to gain anything over my Zv4 10" just an idea i'm considering to switch things up, thoughts? Gain a bunch of cone area, increase the efficientcy of the amp, lower any strain on the electrical, doesn't seem i could go wrong. Did i just answer my own question there?
  17. I could see these working quite well in an application like your razr enclosure. Nice stuff Steve Seemed like alot of grab, N52?
  18. My Zv4 10" sounds great on rms power from a SCV. Made me have the same thoughts as OP.
