Your car and how much wire you needed.

Recommended Posts

Lets try to get something going helping people estimate how much wire they will need.

Post what kind of car you have, Year Make Model Submodel Body style etc etc. Also post any extra information like where you ran the wire and where you ended the wire.

I'll start.

1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse NA Hatchback.

Battery on driver side underhood ran through oem wire harness on the pass side.

Used a 27ft run and got it all the way to the back of my hatch area to the back battery with about 7 feet i had to cut.

If i had cut a hole on the driver side i could have made the run with 15ft -17ft maybe.

Seems like there would be to many varialbles. Amp placement, battery placement, number of runs (front to back, battery to battery. battery to amp....)

1994 Ford taurus

Ran on the left side, followed wheel well, drilled a hole about 2 inches left of the steering column

16ft did the trick perfect....For one of my 4 runs that is...pardon.gif

Nice thread idea, only hard part is scrolling through until you find your make/model

2006 Malibu Maxx SS

4 sa 12's D2

2 audiopipe 3k's

4 UPS batteries

2 runs of 0awg

Walled at 34hz

How does a sport like this do in tough economic times? Just fine. There are 465 events listed in the current season. "Our competitors can't even spell recession," says dB drag racing impresario Wayne Harris. "They're young, and some of them still live at home. They put all their energy and money into their cars. They're competitive. They're at that age."

Most internet broswers have a "find" or a "search" feature for within the screen or webpage.

Way too many variables, placement, and not to mention setup. I have a silverado but probably have more wire than many suvs and cars.

You can't expect to have the same amount of wiring for every application. Appreciate the thought though, its a good idea.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Its not meant to be exact, just to give people some idea of how much wire they would need if they have the same car as someone who posts on here.

I recently bought 50ft of wire to install it and find out i only needed 50. Now 10 ft of wire doesn't seem like much until i mention that it was 2/0 pure copper flexo something welding cable.

Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that :( any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van.
