Amazingly it still is very stiff motor and surround, seeing how I have beat the shit out of it since I droke it in. It has always been in a 4.5cuft box @ 35Hz and has played flawless and very loud in that box. I"m able now to take my '98 Grand Cherokee and do whatever with at this time. I tried to contact Dave Thompson from Mmats but still no word from him. What I'm looking for is some ideas on a new box and amount of power for that size box for it. I have heard talk of up to 8cuft box for this sub, but that to me sounds a bit big I'm thinking like the 6's. It is a Quad-coil and that does halp a lot. the coils are 0.7Ohm and I run it at 0.7Ohm on a 3000.5D Mmats amp daily. I want to mess around with it before i go and buy (4)18 SMD's or DD9518g's or the DDZ9518, IDK I'm up in the air on which right now. But if you can leave some thoughts Please and Stay Loud Everyone!!
BanginOnABudget Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 "stiff motor" as apposed to what exactly? man if you can get me the T/S sheet for that sub i can design you an amazing enclosure, just pm it to me. im taking out my passenger seat, battery is disconnected, going to unwire and take out the three amps, take out the 70+ lb box, then the platform so i can crimp 1 wire. Almost as bad as those fegs that put those horns in their grills and roll down the street distorting the block.... 1990 Jeep Cherokee 2 Dr. Big-3 in 0g on Stock Alt. As far I know "motor" is a reference to the spider basket and coil assembly on a speaker. Trust me I have looked fo a Spread sheet for it... Nadda They were built to custom Dave Thompson from Mmats was a good friend for a lot of years but lately he is not returning my emails IDK. I just called them and asked to have a spec sheet emailed to me and they said they will get what they got, so I'll post that here when I get It. MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.

I may be wrong but thanks for the input, but more important here is do you have anything to add on the topic, which is more of my issue, cause it's been a week and Mmats has still not got back to me, lil pissed off about that ya know.

I'd stick near to 5 or 6 probably. Website recommends 3.7 for the 15 and 10.8 for the 18.. So in her 11 years I've had it it sgtill is crazy loud. I'm thinking 5.5-6.5 ft^3 bor the bow but I waqnna take this time to let people weigh in and give me more to think about before I build one. And another point, I'm up in the air about what style port to use. I'm thinking cause it is just the one sub going in for right now a three common wall slot port may be it, idk yet.

If I gave a DVC Jugg 5k watts daily like I did my quad it would have died by now I think
C-Fizzy Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Unless the quad coil that he built has amazing cooling and a different spider assembly, then there is no difference in power handling between quad and dual voice coils. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
