bnorg92 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I have a 4000 watt power acoustik amp, hooked up to 2 12" 1200 watt audio pipes. And i have two capacitors that are also hooked up to my amp. I hooked up 6 neon tubes to my amp. then it started to sound bad and it smelled. So i unhooked them and my subs now sounds bad. A friend told me your not suppose to hook them up to my amp. But i want them to pulsate. if i hook them up to the battery will they pulsate still? is my amp fried? What should i do please help>>>

Benji0687 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I'll be nice and try to help you. You DO NOT hook neons up to your amp. You need to get neons with "pulsate" or "music" option (i forget the exact name for it) but they sell neons you hook up to a + and - power source (fused) and there is a switch on the side of the tube that goes from constant to pulsate and a dial to adjust its sensitivity. Chaise Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 There are some LED strips (yes LED, NEON is old technology imo), that have a control box with a microphone on it that picks up the beat of the music. It isn't perfect but it'll look good if done right. IDK about hooking it up to the amp though. I like the oldschool one.. Current System: Stock 2011 Tahoe Loud as F**K Just kidding
