For sure bro. It was snowing here yesterday. Shitty. Last couple of days I just close the doors of the car while I was working on it. I was already sitting in the wall and no wind could get to me. haha

So I have started looking into what car I want next since I will probably try to get a new one next spring and figure that since Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming up, I'm going to stalk AudioSavings and SonicElectronix for a 4 channel amp to put in it.

Right now, I am looking at 4 amps to stalk:

1. MB Quart ONX4.80

2. MB Quart ONX4.125

3. Hifonics ZXi80.4

4. Hifonics ZXi150.4

Now here's my thoughts:

-I would sorta like to keep with the Hifonics to keep brands alike within the build but the MB's are supposed to be a bit better (Yes, I know they are both owned by Maxxsonics).

-All amps above have good reviews when looking at reliable sources.

-I feel it would be nice to save a little bit of cash by getting one of the 4x80 amps but what if I want to upgrade?

-If I get the 125 or 150, I'll have to be cautious on the gain settings until I decide to do a serious upgrade, which may not be for quite a while depending on my job status.

-I will start the new car out with speakers with a power handling of about 80-100 Wrms. Probably a nice set of 2-way components or coaxials depending on the car.

Tell me what you guys think. Right now I'm looking at extended cab 4x4 Colorados, which run 6.5"-6.75" speakers front door and back as far as I've seen.

you know me bro. MBQuart all the way. Be sure to keep them out of direct light though. My onyx4.60's both got this weird patina from the sunlight.

A Colorado would be sick...I'm thinking a blowthrough with a couple 18" lol Do you have any components in mind? If you get amps like mine that have 24 db slopes you can buy raw drivers instead. I run my tweeters directly to the amp. Might be easier...not sure if it is cheaper. You could tailor it to what you wanted then. Not paying for passive xovers means more money for speakers. Partsexpress and mcmelectronics is another place I would check. They have some wicked deals on right now.

Lol, I don't have the gonads to cut up a new truck like that. I was thinking a new box for my T3's until I decide on changing over to something else. As far as components, it will wait till I have the thing because the extended and crew cabs have a speaker in each door for a total of 4 and as far as I can tell it would be a 5.25 with a bracket or up to a 6.75 with a little fabrication. All of this depends on whether onstar is a factor too, which I'm aiming for one without. What's your thoughts on the power? The basshead says MOAR is better, but I also think that I can be fine with 8OWrms and later when I get the nuts to cut up the interior I can add a speaker and glass it in for a 2 ohm load and 160Wrms each channel.

Having more power is great. It comes down to how far you want to go. If you have the T3s in a new box they should be louder in the truck. The two pairs of drivers in the doors on 80 watts should be enough to keep up with them. If not you could always add another pair like you mentioned.

I think if you get those T3s in the same box and a little bit more room. That shit would slam.. shit they fucking slam now.. I was really suprised at what those 12s were doing man.

Ok then, the 125 and the 150 are out and I think it's safe to cut out the Hifonics 80.4 Leaving just the MB Quart. Just to cover my bases though I might also get THIS if the sale is good enough. Just depends on the sales and availability I guess. The T3's will definitely be getting a new box in the new build whenever I get the vehicle. I figure both subs up and either port up or firing to the passenger side and about 3.5-3.75 cubes with a tuning down to 30ish hz biggrin.gif
