MECA California suggestions/comments thread

After speaking with competitors in other states it seems their classing of cars is A LOT more strict per the rules. Here is a short list of some things i have noticed here in California.

1. I have never seen the judges check voltage. There are a couple of people I think who have 16volt systems who have slid by into Street Class.

2. Cars with extra alts need to be verified in the lane so everyone can see the field is even. We need a even playing field.

3. RPM's are never checked there has been several instances where people are over the 2k limit.

4. Battery sizes are never checked for the AS class.

5. Charging limit per rules. 15 volts at the amp! Since the introduction of the vcm it's to easily changed to above the legal limit.

6. Late comers are checking the class scores prior to paying fees to enter the lanes. We have quite a few people who are investing several hours to get to the comp to have someone in town just show up late in the day and let into the comp. How fair is it to spend 40-100 or more in fuel to have someone do this to you not even counting the entry feey fees to end up getting bumped this way.

There are more but these need to be addressed imo.

1.. I check batts and know what a 16 volt batt looks like who had 16 and was in a street class????

2.... there are 2 people with extra alts ray and ray and both have showed me how they drop alts for street class and then for db class get the extra alts running who eles has extra alts????

3 i check a verify rpms.... yes some people have reved up a lil more in the lanes but it never affected the score or there placeing so dqing them was pointless

4. i do check batts i have a rule book and have never read anything about the size for as class please show me where it says it has to be a certian size

5. fine i can check all the voltage and if anybody gos over 15 volts trying to cheat you will be banned from meca for life if thats what you want

6. the late comers is all up to aubrey i take the sheet class them and judge them thats it i have no idea when they show up or when they pay

and 7 how do you know how judging happens in other stats? and is more strick? have you been there How about finals have you been there??? I HAVE and has been judged at finals and watched how finals was judged except for checking voltage at the amp wich at finals was checked just one time to be verifed and not checked again the judging at our shows are not much differnt from Finals

Thank you

Flex Issues Ray runs a whole different belt to show that he's not running what he's not supposed to be. Doesn't A.I. Ray just unplug some? It's extremely easy to unplug alts, and it's extremely easy to plug them back in. Not saying that's what Ray does, just saying that it can be done.

And about the judging at finals, I heard it SUCKED. So I hope our judging stays at least how it is now, cuz so far I don't see too many problems.

for #6. you dont get special treatment because you drove farther. if the show is in your home town and you can sleep in, good for you. beating someone has nothing to do with how far you travel or how early you show up. now if you wait to register to get into a class with no one else, well thats just lame.

competition is good. if they beat you, they beat you. you either accept it or you come back harder.

doug almost never enforced rules or checked cars, but people still followed them.

ya berto, there was a lot of drama at the last meca finals. luckily we are not a part of that here in cali. we also saw a lot of dirty tricks competitors were using so there may be a need for strict rules. out here, it just feels more like a family.

Late comers SHOULD be cut some dang slack. Espectially if your driving 2-3 hours for a show and find out your late and cannot compete. Takes the fun out of it real quick, this is supposed to be FUN right?

We dont want it to end up like db drag <_<

#1 You were not judging at the specific event in question on the16 volt batt thing. I emphasized think in the above quote too.

#2 if you think there are only 2 people who run extra alts you need to open up some hoods! There are more. I will leave it at that when you look you'll know too.

#3 is a wash

#4 cca limit for as class

#5 the rule is kind of vague because it says @ the amp. Therefore you would have to check with the vehicle running.would you check it with a current draw or without?

#6 Yes this is true it is up to Aubrey however Steve Stern has a different opinion! I have an email somewhere if it didn't get deleted.

You don't have to get defensive every time someone suggest you could do better. Given the opportunity you should learn from suggestions not try and combat them. Be the best judge you can be in all fairness that's all. You do a bang up job I have to admit :woot:. However with the video camaras running at the events errors or laps in judgement are eched in tape. Keep on giving it your best. We as competitors appreciate it

isnt going to steve stern instead of aubrey kinda like going to your boss's boss instead of talking to your boss?

2. i will check more hoods but i do check alts for street cars if i missed one or 2 this will be fixed and they will be in mod class unless they disconnect an alt

4. i will enforce the cca rule i must of missed that

5. with out current draw just check it at the amp

6. i will leave that up to aubrey and steve

and i got deffensive cause 80 to 90% of what you listed I DO check for

Doesn't A.I. Ray just unplug some? It's extremely easy to unplug alts, and it's extremely easy to plug them back in.

I run a single alt belt when burping in the street class. Then switch to the quad belt for drive-by. I'll keep my hood open next time, just in-case.

Ray i watch you change belts its ok and it is in the rules that the hood must be closed in a run
