Btl Is Here (pics On 2nd Page)

My 18" fully loaded BTL will be here tomorrow and im super stoked about it. My previous setup was running a 13w7 on a little more than 600 watts, i know, very underpowered. Anyway, im positive the BTL will be louder than the JL because i will be running 2000+ more watts. Im excited and afraid because nobody where i live has Fi so i have never heard them except on u guys vids. I know i want be disappointed tho.

So in conclusion...

Would u guys compare a btl to 2 12w7s? or should i expect more out of it? or less?

Im just really anxious to get this thing here and see how it sounds.

A guy i talked to who had 2 15" MTs said btls were the shit.

And also, for the box...

because i live in an apartment, i have nowhere to build a box, so my local shop will have to.

they said they wanted to do a ported downfiring box and hide the sub. the guy said it would surprise people and to tell them i only had 2 10s..i was thinking more of a sub back port back box...

i wanted to show the sub for the wow factor but i want it to sound good as well

As far as output you shouldn't be dissapointed. That's a pretty big jump in power and size, but honestly since each setup is so different there's no way to say 'this would be like this'. In that vehicle it should be loud. I wouldn't hide the sub unless you are worried about theft, but a box that big would obviously not be for a set of 10s. I'd do the classic sub up port back design, it's worked great for lots of people including myself. If you had the room I'd say play around with it, but I guess that's not an option. Congrats on the new sub- I know everytime I get anything like that it feels like christmas

sub up port back is the way to go in a suv, you will be totally happy with the BTL, personally I think it will kill the output of the Jl's

thats what i want. U know getndef the guy with the 2 jlw7s and the black on black tiburon, well everybody thinks his systme is the shit, and im not gonna lie it is loud and the fiberglass is nice, but i wanna prove to everyone that the sub doesnt have to be expensive to sound good.

Everybody thinks jl is the best out there and they have great woofers, but i just wanna be diff. and get fi out here on the east coast

not sure what the shop quoted you on the box and what kinda room you have to deal with as this could be a rather large monster, but you might wanna talk to stratusrt01 about a box as well, not sure if he hangs out here or not but he can be found at ROE and *** forums as well. the dude makes some sick hybrid folded horn t-line boxes. shipping might be a killer however on a box for an 18 and i am sure there are plenty of guys around SMD that could take that job on for ya too and save ya a few bucks as well

i think the 18" will outperform the jl's. and like david said, definitely do subs up, port back. if u are the only one around running FI, why the hell would u wanna hide that sexy beast? show that shit off!!

as far as the amp you could try the hifonics BXi2006D (2000watts rms)...although im not sure if its over/under rated.
