BassJunkie Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Nubbed myself, was messing around behind my front seats where my amps are rearranging wires...somehow I arced the remote wire to the ground ... amp turns on and instantly goes into protect now. Any common items that go out when this happens? I opened it up and everything appeared fine upon visual inspection. The amp is a Hifonics zues zxi6408 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free. Electrical energy is not you havent lived until you've hit a screw with a router.

kryptonite Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I could be wrong but I don't think its ur amp, take a piece of wire and jump from the positive power wire to the remote input and see if it still goes into protect. If it stays in protect than yeah its ur amp, if it works, u may have shorted your remote output from your deck. Again, I could be wrong is saying this but its worth a shot... Superjay Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I've done it before...it sucks when you fry the remote on the HU...this is why I always fuse the remote wire...3A fuse...then to a relay. Also fuse the relay constant... I cannot stress this enough...fuse EVERYTHING. more specific to your issue...what kind of HU do you have? dthomas Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 My Fosgate 800a2 I got second hand from someone had the whole trace on the circuit board for the remote fried. Had to solder a wire to the part of the trace that was still intact and jump it to the remote terminal. Hopefully that isn't the case.
BassJunkie Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 Everything is in my sig, it's a deh6000UB. Honestly have never thought of fusing the remote wire, I definitely am now. But its not the remote because my sub amp still works fine.
